As you all know by now. Capello is at odds with the FA over the decision to strip Terry of the England captaincy: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16899940

David Davies, the former FA man was on the BBC this morning insinuating that by openly criticising the FA in this way he may have broken certain contactual terms.

It's unlikely, I know but it's just possible that he walks away or the FA terminate his contract early. If this happens (which I very much hope it does), the worst case scenario would be that they tap up Harry (unlikely), the best case scenario however would be getting on the blower to Guus Hiddink. Not saying that it should be permanent but I think that culturally he'd be a much closer fit, his record suggests that he is both respected and liked by his players and also has a track record of unifying dressing rooms. I think that he would have a much more positive impact on the squad in the run-up to the Euros and during the tournament.

The only obvious flaw in this plan would be his relationship with John Terry though I think that Hiddink is professional enough not to allow this to cloud his judgement.

There's no way the FA will sack Capello. They'd have to pay him a fortune if they did.

Equally Capello will be happy to see out his contract.

I'm glad the FA stripped Terry of the captaincy. If he was any sort of decent person he would have stepped down himself - at least until the case has been resolved. However I think it's pretty stupid of the FA not to have spoken to Capello first.

Capello Disagrees I don't! Should never have been reinstated... can't believe that case is taking that long to go to trial... Premier League would have 8 game banned him already like Suarez if it hadnt gone to trial...

Does being captain really matter to anyone else other than the player wearing it? Not that I think Terry should be captain anyway, its not exactly something to have a bitchfit about.

and Redknapp take over ?

not sure I want that

As I say in the post intro, for me, I think that Hiddink would be the man, at least as a stop gap. Not that I have any special insight but I think that the players would be keen as well and would be more likely to respond to him than the busted flush that is Capello.

I wonder if this is the FA's chance to get rid without paying.

Breach of contract etc.

Capello hasn't exactly been successful in the role, and this is the chance to get rid and appoint someone to start the new era now, before the tournament.

Apart from the media does anybody else really give a toss who is England captain or not.....?

Given England has pretty bad standing with UEFA in terms of its reputation anyway i would think having a convicted racist as captain of the national team isn't he best thing, also having a national manager basically say that he doesn't think the captain's racism should be taken into consideration is also pretty bad for England's image.

This whole thing is an absolute shambles.

Capello should never have given the position back to Terry in the first place and he must have seen other problems coming knowing how 'well' Terry is regarded by lots of other players.

Capello should also have had the balls to drop him as captain as soon as the CPS decided they were going to prosecute Terry. Guilty or not you can't have a divisive player like that leading a team and surely someone who is paid £6m a year can see that.

However when he didn't do it himself I really don't think it should have been the FA's job to overrule him and now we have a situation where basically everybody was in the wrong but nobody can do anything about it.

The FA won't sack Capello, Capello won't drop Terry, we'll be shit at the Euros and then have to start again in 6 months time.

Good old England.

I can only hope your joking otherwise this has to be a candidate for the most unintentionally ironic comment 2012.

If you are not joking you are as ignorant as john terry*
