Fabregas by Friday?

Seems a way off at the moment. Barca only want to pay 30 million Euros (which obviously Arsenal rejected flat) and Arsenal want closer to 80 million, which Barca won't pay.

Oh and I can't understand the logic (including from many Arsenal fans) who think Arsenal will be better off with Fabregas. He is their best player by a mile and the best central midfielder in the Premiership and maybe in the top 3 players in the league (unfortunately).

Arsenal's recent success was built on Viera/Flamini and Viera/Petit, i.e. two solid hard working midfielders. I actually feel that they would be better off with Alex Song (who is turning out to be a solid defensive midfielder) and Yaya Toure.

Yaya has said he dont want to go to Arse

They believe the media too much and the fact that they think they would have win the title if van persie been there, just because of a 10 minutes in an 20 min stint

again ive said exactly what is going on with the negioations. arsenil are being ridiculous. Laputa wants it done by June 13th when Rosell becomes president so Rosell doesnt get credit for signing Fabregas

arsenil asked for 20 million, Iniesta and 1st option for Bojan for Cesc. laughed at.

arsenil asked for Toure, Puyol and 20 million for Cesc again laughed at. Neither player would want to go to arsenil .
arsenil want 52 million euros cash

hed be the 3rd best central midfielder in the Barca team. yes he might want to come, yes he wants to win things, yes the lifestyle in Barcelona is much better. if he keeps barca waiting yet again Rosell and co will get tired of all of this and maybe he wont get this chance again

Wenger is being ridiculous because he knows once cesc leaves arsenil are midtable a best.

they apparently now are confident of unveiling both on friday.

fabregas with number 4 shirt villa number 7

Fabregas by Friday?

Any Friday you like.........

I think if it's going to happen, it'll happen quickly as the World Cup is fast approaching and I also think reports of Arsenal's demise should Fabregas leave are somewhat premature.

I don't think 52 million euros is that ridiculous in the current climate. He might be the 3rd best midfielder when he arrives at Barca but he is only 23. Xavi is 30 now and whilst he shows no signs of deterierating it will happen eventually. Barca would be signing Fabregas for the long term, they are not Real Madrid who simply sign players for the here and now and hope it works, they look at things for the future too.

Personally I think he would be a bigger asset to them in the centre than Iniesta. Iniesta was massively under rated before, but now I think the hype has maybe gone a little overboard. In any case he will likely play in a more advanced role.

I think the first deal you mention is laughable, but the second one would be not such a bad deal for Barca. Toure is a fringe player now that Guardiola wants to play Busquets and Puyol isn't really very good. I'm not surprised Arsenal are trying it, why shouldn't they Fabregas is tied into a 5 year contract. On top of that this is the same Barca that just last year paid 40 million and Eto'o for Ibrahimovic (neither of the Fabregas deals are more laughable than that) and they know that Laporta is desperate to pull off his deals so they can afford to force it up.

Levy would be doing far more profitable deals if we had a Fabregas type player at Spurs.

I understand Spurs fans wanting fiberglass gone but lets not be silly here. If Man U came in with £30m (when other players are going for £50m+) for Modric we would expect Levy to laugh at it. Without even having a sum in mind, whatever thats offered would not be enough because he is one of our better players and even though he hasn't scored enough, what he has scored he did with quality and with more time he will score more.

So my point is I don't think we should be calling Wenger or Arsenal silly or ridiculous when we would expect Levy to do the same with our best players.

On a positive note Rafa wants to remain at L'Pool!!

The Fabregas situation is completely different to the theoretical one you put forward though. Fabregas has apparently stated his desire to leave Arsenal before an official bid has been made by Barça. This has put Arsenal in a precarious situation. Another factor to consider is that Fabregas has said that there's only one club he'd go to were he to leave Arsenal, and this will prevent any kind of bidding war from happening. This gives Barça the upper hand in negotiations as they could make a take-it-or-leave-it offer for Fabregas, safe in the knowledge that they can just try again next season and for a much lower price.

My personal opinion is that he'll either go to Barça for the much-purported £30m or he will reluctantly be an Arsenal player for another season.

By the way, just to clear something up about how much Barça are willing to pay for a player: the Ibra deal was not €39m plus Eto'o, it was in fact just the €39m transfer fee. According to Sid Lowe, Eto'o went to Inter on a loan deal. I'm guessing that Barça were desparate to get shot of him and that he refused to go to any clubs that had bidded for him, including our beloved Spurs allegedly.

sid is wrong. eto'o sued barca in cas for 15% of transfer fee. the judgement was it isnt payable and he wasnt transfered to another spanish club.

Well, then he's not being ridiculous, is he? Being ridiculous would be not playing hardball.

Exactly...someone has come in for your best player and so for the good of the club he has to try and dig his heels in.

Iniesta is the best player in the world. But I agree with you about the value of Fabregas who is the best midfielder in the EPL.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but if i was Wenger, i'd try and use all the Fab cash to tempt Gerrard over. Then i'd molest some more children. Then i'd try and sign a great goalie.

Don't get me wrong, I think Iniesta is great but I don't think he is the best player in the world. Messi and Xavi are both better than Iniesta in my opinion (which is all it is).

I'm not sure that order is correct, surely molest the children first, get Gerrard over, bit more molestation, look for a goalie, more molestation and then home
