Emerse Fae has denied rumours of a move to Lille, although the midfielder is thinking about his Reading future.
The Ivory Coast international was Reading's record signing when he joined in a £2.5million deal from Nantes last summer.
But he has started just three Premier League games for the club and has gone almost two months without featuring in the first team.
He has been linked with a return to French football with Lille, but Fae is 'surprised' by the transfer speculation.
"Honestly, I have never been contacted by anyone at Lille," Fae told L'Equipe.
"Like everyone I read this rumour on the internet, but I have no idea where it came from. I swear I'm the most surprised."
Worried
But the 23-year-old, who is heading off to the African Cup of Nations, is weighing up whether to stay at the Madejski Stadium.
"I'm not going to close any door," added Fae. "The transfer window closes in three weeks, so I'm going to take the time to think about it.
"For the moment I haven't asked myself yet if I want to leave Reading or not.
"Above all I'm worried about my feeble amount of playing time. My only concern is to play. I can't allow myself to have a second half of the season like I've just had."
Let's put in a bid now. I know that he is a quality player, and that Coppell do not have the knowledge of what is a good unit. We have talked about it before, and we saw it yesterday. The team he put on yesterday was the second string team, and they are a lot better than the team he usuallly uses. Fae is a great midfielder, and together with the players we have, he would be great. We can get him on a cheap.
