Never in all my time watching football have i seen better defending than the robben tackle.

Tinted glasses on, perhaps, but I still get tingles every time i see it.

Thanks for posting the vid DuDe, appreciate it.

Anyone remember the curling shot he scored from just inside the box with his left foot?? Can't remember who against.

I also loved the header v arsenal, was that the lasagna gate season? Think they had their red current kit. Loved him and Dawson running towards the fans and also the crowd noise when the ball hit the back of the net sounded incredible and that was just from tv

why/who is he throttling in that pic?

its hard to think of anything of other than that tackle as one of his favourite moments.

but i was dead proud of him when he made the england euro squad in 04, shame it got cut short

For me it was the Huckerby tackle vs Norwich, as i was there and it stands out clearer than MOTD2 or you tube highlights of the (admittedly beautfiul) tackle on Robben. Whatever people think/thought of Huckerby as a player, he was rapid and was full on sprinting towards Robbo and Ledley seemed to just be jogging and still made the recovery tackle. Amazing

It also prevented a 1-0 home loss to a Norwich side that contained Doherty at the back. Still, a 0-0 draw was bad enough. Santini eh?

Finally, cant stand Terry Henry and personally feel he is overated in comparison to the other prem greats, but always appreciated the quote about Ledley re: toughest opponent

I think it was against Man City in the FA Cup. That goal put us 3 - 0 and half time and Man City were down to 10 men. I don't remember what happened in the second half

Not a moment but a full 90 minutes and not even in a Spurs shirt. When England played France, can't remember if it was WC or Euro's (memory loss courtesy of the herb superb). But I'll never forget the masterclass in defending as he kept Terry Henry warm and snug in his pocket for the duration. Nor can I forget, or forgive, the inept management that dropped him the very next game for that scumbag Terry.

That game announced Ledders on the World scene and the England management turned the fucking microphones off!

The goal v city was beautiful, he controlled with his right, turned onto his left and curled in a corker!

Still the Robben and Huckerby tackles for me. They confirmed him as not being human.

He wasn't dropped.

He went back to England as his partner had a baby - or problems with the birth of their child.

Superior to Terry, Campbell, Carragher and Rio in every way.

IIRC he was dropped for the remaining group games and then went home before the knockout stages to attend the birth of his kid. Remember at the time thinking it was a scandal that he was dropped for that **** Terry after a Motm performance in that opening game.

Iirc this was taken as he stumbled out of a nightclub absolutely shitfaced. It may have been after the Carling Cup Final win.

Those guys may have been trying to help him stand up. ;)

We're all really going to miss this guy. To think of a Spurs back four that no longer has the option of Ledley is a very sad thought indeed.

He was brought on as a sub against Croatia later in the group stage too. I had to google this as I have enough trouble remembering 8 days ago let alone 8 years!
What I do recall though was that more than just Spurs fans were moderately outraged that Terry got the nod after Kings performance.

Not just lifting the Carling Cup, but his whole performance that game. I was fortunate enough to be there, and King just looked immense. He simply purred away and snuffed out what was a superb Chelsea team.

If there's one comp I'd like to see more than anything, it would be a ten minute one of King tackles/interceptions etc etc
