pretty embarrassing if he's telling the truth. surely levy is smarter than to base his argument on a tabloid article?

No more embarrassing than when Fergie accused Real Madrid of tapping up Ronaldo...only for FIFA t reject his claim.

How embarrassing for him!

Levy's letter isn't soley about what Fergie said or didn't say, it's about the club trying to prize Berba away even though we've told them to feck off. Levy wouldn't pen such a letter without proof that the surrey reds are STILL trying to get him.Eek

The red nosed drunk has got a shock coming...

Funny how he didn't come out straight away and deny he said it though, before Levy made his statement.

Ferguson revealed United’s legal team are already looking into the matter, and he is confident Spurs have no case to issue against the Premier League champions.

Only because the Premier League will never grow the testicles to do anything about it...

There has been substantial speculation in respect of the futures of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, including press comment from both Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benitez. In response our Chairman, Daniel Levy has made the following statement:
"Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players. It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.
"This comes after a series of events, dating back to last summer, which have shown Manchester United to be in breach of Premier League (PL) rules. As a result, we have today made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Manchester United. Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently and we made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Liverpool earlier this week.
"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct.
"Our subsequent position has been severely compromised by both clubs making their intentions widely known and indeed making contact with the players and their agents, without the Club's permission.
"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence. This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.
"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

What Fergie did or didn't say probably means jack shit in our case, these allegations are far more serious

Exactly what I posted above-Levy's letter isn't about what Fergie said or didn't say. Fergie is as thick as shit!:bang:

"It is going to be very embarrassing for them,” he stated after United’s 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs."

Can't be as embarrassing as that result

Fergie doesn't realise that unfortunately embarrassment is like water off a ducks back to a lot of spurs fans. Fuck him, I'm glad he says Levy is different - most chairmen and owners are utter fucking vermin including the glazers.

I'm behind Levy 100% (in a non homo way).

Whatever I've said about Levy this season, I forgive him. The man's a genius. Only Levy could essentially tell his fan base that we are selling our 2 biggest stars and come out of it a hero. He's the king of spin. This might seem like a sarcastic dig at him, but it isn't, I mean it. If something comes of this complaint then I'll take it back, but I'm sure nothing will come of it other than Levy selling our two biggest starts, but with his reputation not just in fact but enhanced. Imagine what would have happened if he'd just solf them without putting up fight (or rather making it seem like he's putting up a fight, whilst at the same time mentioning "by the way, they are probably leaving.")

I don't blame Levy for selling them, as I see he has little choice (or in Keane's case would like to do the deal anyway). And i'm impressed with how he's distracted the fans so brilliantly with this statement. But mark my words, all we have been told is that our two stars are off and nothing of consequence will happen to Utd and Liverpool and Levy, Ferguson and Benitez all know this.

Ferguson claims his remarks were misreported by a national newspaper and that United may now bring in their legal team.
"It is going to be very embarrassing for them,” he stated after United’s 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs."

yeah, may be he meant his players ..

but it was misreported

I don't think Levy would go public on this issue if he didn't have sufficient evidence.I just hope the PL don't sweep this under the carpet just because its Man U and Liverpool but they probarbly will.

Whatever happens, I don't care how much we lose out, if Barcelona offer 6million less, sell Berbatov to them - DO NOT SELL TO ManU.

What if he didn't go public? What if he just sold our 2 biggest names, without seemingly putting up a fight? He'd have a riot on his hands. It's not his fault both Keane and Berba want to go, but would the fans see it like that? No chance. People don't think he'd kick up a stink without the ammo to make something happen, well I disagree. I'm sure he know nothing of any real consequence will happen. But he's certainly got to make it look as if he's not going to let this happen without a fight.
