Coaches know from training. The biggest part of work players do at the base. Nobody is ruining his development, it's natural selection.

I think it's more telling that so many people in the game urge young players to go out and play football over training at a superior club. Maybe ruining was an exaggeration, but I certainly think we're hampering it.

He's only 21yo and behind a pretty strong midfield roster. It's very logical why he'd miss out given the selection requirements. If he was a 21yo Academy player many would barely blink an eye at him missing out.

I get that he's only on loan so there's not that home connection with him yet, but I find it so short-sighted how many seem to make this assumption that he's not talented or rated by the coaching staff because fans would rather judge him against their perceived value-for-money on his future option rather than his actual ability/potential at his age.
But he isn't an academy player- we've got a Portugal international on an 18 month loan deal only to hardly use him. Presumably we wanted to get some use out of him when we signed him but he barely figured last season when our performances (esp our midfield) were largely ineffective.

Who would you start him over in our midfield at the moment? Why would the club need to play him over better suited and available options at the moment just because some fans feel entitled enough that they need to see him playing thinking they are a better judge of talent than Jose and the coaching team? I’m sure he will feature when it’s appropriate.

Tanganga, Sessegnon and Skipp are all around the same age and barely featured also, why are they afforded with time to develop amongst the squad but not Gedson? The latter are this season out on loan and obviously Gedson cannot be, so what makes more sense; prematurely activating his buy option and then loaning him out, or keeping him amongst the squad? Surely the latter, and that’s what we’ve done.

He’s so unfairly judged purely because of the speculated future fee. What ever happened to just appreciating we have some great young talents with us at the moment and seeing how he develops. He’s clearly rated by the staff and it’s not like he’s on a substantial wage or loan fee. It feels like such a plastic perspective when some expect a 21yo to either jump straight into the first team or they’re a bust.

As to be expected.

Gedson´s loan period with us isn´t what he hoped for, I guess. What I´m 100% certain of is that there is absolutely no chance at all that we will use the option to make the loan permanent for a whopping £56 million in the summer.

I agree, but the number is 43m.

Well, who knows. He may benefit after all, still young. Take Carlos Vinicius for example. He's 25 now but things started to turn nicely for him only a couple of seasons ago.

Feel sorry for Gazza. Always liked him and thought he did admirably when Lloris has been out. I don't know why Jose seemed to take an instantly disliking to him, perhaps he took the Poch sacking hard. Hart isn't an upgrade on him IMO.

Gedson hasn't excelled but we hasn't had that much chance either. Probably get even less chance now.

I don't think Mourinho has anything against Gazza. Signing Hart was simply a way of freeing up a spot for a non HG player. If we still had to accomodate Gazza we wouldn't have a space for one of Reguilon, Hojbjerg or Vinicius as things stand.

That's a rather sanctimonious read. It's pointless to compare him to our actual academy players because we HAVE loaned him. If he is rated and not being used then it's just another case of a big club stockpiling young players and it's plain wrong. Nothing good will have come of this move unless we sign him permanently, which I can't see happening. I'll take your advice and watch him develop (guess I'll go watch training sessions).

I completely expect, as per Pau, that we'll get to June and DL will submit a £3m bid for Gedson.

Not necessarily seen anything beyond Onomah about him so far, with us, but he's obviously got something in his locket

Yeah, a picture of his mum ???

This 100%. In the right system with sufficient playing time Gedson is a very good player. Mourinho knows this. Fans are so impatient nowadays. Give the kid a chance to solidify his position on the squad.
