I don't play much online so I don't care, first thing I always do is give our players 99 ratings and sign Messi etc.

Meh, our players are young as well, so stats will go up. If our players who are in their early 20s all had amazing stats now then in 5 seasons we would have a bunch of player pushing 90. To be honest i can spank Arsenal with AFC Wimbledon on football games so its a mute point (and im not very good)

True, they might have really good potential ratings so after a few seasons in career mode they'll be better than our rivals old plodders anyway.

FIFA 17 ratings clearly have no impact on what happens on the pitch, but with the North London rivals closer than ever in terms of league position and expectations, it'll surely rile Spurs fans that they are once again classed as inferior to their near neighbours.

For years I've been pointing out that FIFA ratings are just a narrative, and that narrative is tailored to the audience. It is not trying to be authentic. 10th place Chelsea's ratings make them a force in the game, and that makes sense when you consider the global brand appeal and the marketing importance of having an overrated Hazard prominently displayed in advertising.

The game's simulations and outcomes are determined by a code that takes those ratings into consideration. So, if you were to run a simulation between Chelsea and Spurs, based on the narrative they've created Chelsea should win.

Just look at United's rankings, they're the best team in the Prem because they're United. Rooney, Ibra, Martial, etc. are all marketing powerhouses. If you're a 14 year old from the US, and you log on to play with Rooney because he's on a Chevy commercial, you're going to be sorely disappointed if he's properly rated.
