......it would seem are on the verge of meltdown.

Which I'm enjoying very much

Could the footballing world be on the cusp of having a brand spanking new governing body?

I'd love if FIFA was taken down by an American. The US was by far the best candidate for the 2022 World Cup. If you didn't want them to get it a 2nd time, then Australia was by far the 2nd best candidate.

Blatter won't survive this is my prediction.

Trusted members of the FIFA council, that once upon a time would all have hidden behind a veil of secrecy and mutual silence, are now, very slowly, starting to turn on one and other.

FIFA is eating itself from within.

I watched the Panorama programme about an hour ago. There is so much corruption in FIFA. No way should Qatar have got the World Cup 2022 and no way should England have gone out in the first round of voting for 2018. Many members definitely took bribes for the Qatar bid.

That Panorama programme was excellent i thought. Its shocking that its gone on for decades and they have been untouchable. The net seems to be closing, even in Switzerland they've been told conform to the laws or find another country as a base.

Good for FIFA bit surely it's too little too late.

Maybe best to have the regional bodies meet now and again and dispense with the global body.

Blatter's lone competitor dropped out of the race.

Watch as all this stuff slowly disappears and everything returns to normal.

Platini's quotes yesterday and today are fascinating. First he says "you know who the corruptors are but they know I am incorruptible."

Right, thanks, Michel. So, you KNOW there is this going on in football? And what exactly are you doing about it? Isn't this what Sepp Blatter is being investigated for?

Secondly, he has denied he is going to step in. Which is a shame. He could make himself the face of a new era, get all the things he wants and secure himself legendary status as administrator (to add to his legend as a player). Tell the European Federation to all abstain. Then launch a vote of no confidence. Who cares that it's against his mate, Sepp? If he wants to be top dog, he's got the chance to make it happen and introduce the kind of reforms that have worked for the IOC (which he also discussed in his interview).

This, simply, is an opportunity for reform that cannot be allowed to be missed. The only way it can come about is for the member countries to rebel against Blatter and protest the entire vote, or at the very least abstain.

Oh, and anyone want some ITK about that World Cup vote? Thought so.

The England bid team were left absolutely devastated by the way things turned out. The reports about them feeling confident are absolutely true. They were promised votes from enough delegates to secure the cup. Promised. Cameron, Beckham and Prince William did a good job and they lobbied all the key people (especially Warner et al).

The night before the bid, the England bid was speaking to all these people. William took some, Beckham others, Cameron, too. They each had rooms in the hotel and were pitching their cause. The promises were tighter than ever. They were up until after 4am working on this.

Meanwhile at 10.30pm, shortly after dinner, the head of the Russian bid walked down the corridor and bid the British bid goodnight with a warm smile. He went straight to bed having sent his top bid people home.

Read into that what you will.

Platini is head of Uefa and so has to be judged on how corrupt ot incorrupt that organisation is but he can't do much about FIFA parteicularly when Blatter is all powerful.
Has anyone noticed that the man who has made the allegations against Bin Hammam is Chuck Blazer who is Blatter's man absolutely and guess who would become the head of Concacaf if the other man he denounced, Jack Warner, is removed? You betcha! Cuck Blazer!!!
This is classic Blatter deviousness, Blazer ensures Blatter gets in unopposed and his pay back from Blatter is that he gets Concacaf. Anybody still unsure how FIFA works now?
Platini is just waiting for the shit to stop flying before he steps out from behind his barricade,

Sepp Blatter has to resign. He is guilty of one of these three options:

1. He was unaware of the corruption in his organization. If this is the case then he should resign because he would have shown a lack of control of his own organization.

2. He was aware of the corruption but turned a blind-eye to it. If so then he should resign because he allowed corruption to occur under his control.

3. He was actively involved in the corruption, therefore, he has to resign.

Moreover, you have to ask yourself how can a man get to the top of an organization that is corrupt to the core without somehow being involved in that corruption. Either he is a bad leader or guilty. I do not think anyone is naive enough to believe he is the former.

As sson as Mohammed Im hard Bin Watshisname went against Blatter his days were numbered.

FIFA dont answer to anyone, they have no competition, they are self regulating. Why would anything change when they can carry on lining their own pockets?

I'm a bit baffled as to why anyone would think that FIFA was different than any other business.

Anyone who has a decent contract to hand out is going to be 'influenced' by personal gain, it's human nature and happens throughout all industries.

The problem with this country is that we are not very good at it.

Jack Warner walks into an English hotel and gets to meet Becks, Coe, and Wills, whoopee do.
When he walks into a Qatar/Russian hotel it will have a big old bag of coke, wall-to-wall toms, and a large suitcase full of used bills.

I know who I'd vote for.

I'm with you here. Platini is the man to take football governance forward and he'd be a fool to miss this opportunity.

I agree. Its just the way things are done. All this effort in making FIFA look stupid will not bode well for england in the future.

Looking forward to the 2014 World Cup seeing president Sepp Blatter with his buddy Chuck Blazer president of Concacaf as guests of honour.
Fifa is rotten and isn't going to change, Blatter is squeaky clean, we know this because the FIFA ethics commitee deliberated for ages and ages and eventually after five minutes declared this to be so.:whistle:
