Quote from levy at the thst meeting.

  • DL said that with a debt of £637m, subject to reasonable assumption on interest rates, the net spend on players would not be affected
haha. the net spend in the last 12 months has been negative.

But our net spend is lowest in the league :)

Yep wouldn't expect a big splash this summer. Unless we sell. Or get a naming rights sponsor.
Achieving Champions League spot next year must be an absolute necessity in order to command and attract best possible price for naming rights. Although, I suspect discussions relating to naming rights have been on-going for many months now.

They've been going on for ages. Levy sacked the company that was in charge of finding us a sponsor. He took over the job himself. Cl would be massive.

Naming rights deal last 10 years plus so not really impacted by whether we qualify for CL this year or not. Much more important is the hype around the stadium, the universal “best stadium in the world” conclusion must be massively helpful, and the amount of exposure the stadium will get in the US, that is where the big sponsorship bucks are.

I’ve been a Levy critic but will concede he has probably been right to wait for the stadium to be finished before securing naming rights. Another month or two of “best stadium in the world” PR and the price will only be heading in one direction.

I think there is a very small window for that, If it's not secured by the first match of next season the value will fall rapidly unless there is a slew of stella events lined up for the footballing downtime.

Seeing us you can't use the sponsored stadium name in the CL because of Uefa, it's probably not the biggest factor in the price.

Oh, yeah, when the delays happened and all the negative PR there was absolutely no chance of a blue-chip company touching it with a barge pole. Hopefully they can get something tied up fairly soon though.

Stole this from another thread “Not sure how Levy does it. Spurs announced a world record operating profit this morning of £157m and still managed to build a £1bn stadium. Their wage bill is below Everton and they’ve already paid a large chunk of stadium off.”
Levy really is one of the best at what he does financially

I think the general gist is we are in a much better position than I imagined and the loan repayments really shouldn’t be to troublesome especially if we get CL a net of £50m seems a reasonable expectation. Add in the dead wood and possibly eriksen and Toby we could have £200m to spend. Sound crazy but that’s what it would add up to. We also have absolutely no FFP restriction , could probably spend £500m if we wanted lol.

You can't use it on the broadcast. But in all the papers around the world doing the writeups they will call the stdium by it's sponsored name. Being in the cl raises the whole profile of the club. To a company looking at sponsoring the stadium they will be looking at the trajectory of the club. A club on the rise will be much more attractive than one on the decline.

We paid 11m agents fees despite not buying a soul?!?

Doesn't the figures still include 2017 transfers? As it's 17-18 figures.

On BBC website.

The annual results filed by the club also show £116m was spent on new players in the period, with the likes of Brazil international Lucas Moura and defender Serge Aurier both coming in from Paris St-Germain.
