All we need is one shot at it !!! :)
If were gonna be good enough to be in it - weve got to be good enough to win it too !!

I think its destiny - thats why the other 2 mug teams have never won it.

Just to visit fantasy land, imagine if we snuck in the top 4 next season and then did win the bastard at our first attempt...would we ever recover? I think I'd have beautiful trouble...

It would be like the concorde....all downhill from thee.

Fuck it would be awesome though. And it would be magic to give it to those wandering twats and that small team from Fulham.

To think we could of been the first London club to win the European Cup back in 1962 when we got beat by Benfica in the Semi-Final, would of been nearly 50 years ago !!!

Between the Arsenal & Chesea mob they are sooooo desperate to be the first, long may their despair continue.

This is one of my biggest dreams. I was talking to a hammer about this just yesterday.

i would love it -

seeing us lose to benfica was was my first experience of football heartbreak

later finding out how we were robbed - probably even more so than cfc- was another layer of football bitterness added to my battered psyche

I still think the only way for us is a billionaire benefactor - however if 'the two london giants' (as sky now refer to them) keep ****ing up - perhaps the new stadium may be the setting for our march into the final and glory glory ..... oh the promised land - will mine eyes see it - I doubt very much TBH

Wasn't it a dodgy ref or something?

Im not old enough to remember , but seen highlights.
Think of a cross between H Webb, D Ellery and that hopeless Hero Ref from last night.

yep

the following is all from memory as usual, so take it FWIW

wall to wall tv coverage & replays wasn't available then - but Greaves had I believe three goals ruled out for offside two of which, at least, according to JG should have stood - one he was even behind the player who crossed the ball according to JG

JG was massively fast off the mark in those days and quite often had runs/goals wrongly chalked off for being offside - but three in two games - too much coincidence

then later it transpired that 'allegedly' the ref had a holiday with the benfica players

I stress this is my memory of events

there is certainly a strong strong belief amongst many fans of my generation and older ones that spurs were robbed v benfica

and billy nick was convinced that we like benfica would have beaten Real madrid in the final

I'd probably kill myself. It wouldn't get much better than that.

I don't think there's any 'allegedly' about it. Bill famously never publicly criticised referees and wouldn't let his players do it, but I'd love to know what his private view was. There was more than a faint suspicion of bulging brown paper envelopes.

We'd certainly have had a very good chance of beating Real in the final. The great side that had won everything in the 50s was ageing and in decline.

chelsea will win it next year i reckon if they can keep hold of hiddink. with all their attacking superstars that barcelona have, chelsea have by far the better squad.

I'd never recover from the pure excitement and ecstasy I would feel seeing Ledley and Keane lifting that trophy. I go fairly mad when we win any game anyway, so if we were to win the CL, Jesus, I don't even want to think about it. I'm already getting excited. I'd be on such a high that any low would feel like a depression.

I'd be happy enough if we become the first team to win the Europa League to be honest.
