You can be one dimensional if you are that quick. I haven't seen too many fullbacks who can deal with him when he goes at them. Even though they know what he is going to do they can't stop him going past them. Problem is he then tries to look up and pick out a cross or play a clever cut back. In fact if he was more one dimensional he would be better and he would be a great outlet, especially on the break.

Really what is with the Lennon hating? I don't get it.

Who said anything about hating him? Im just highlighting his faults.
And IMO he doesn't get his head up enough. Under Ramos he has started to, but not nearly enough.

He has been poor for a season and a half now.

Well I would hope we wouldn't put in a big bid anyway, because whilst I rate him, I'm not sure he'd be worth spending that much money on.

I just find this attitude that we can just walk in on any club outside the top 4 and just take their best players funny. Aside from Woodgate, when was the last time we actually did it? I'm not talking teams like Wigan or Fulham here, I'm talking teams that are gonna finish in the same 5th-11th bracket as us this year.

I agree with you in general.

it's like when people say Downing is shit & we can do better for the money. I'm sure a similar sum of money maybe could buy Quaresma, but the idea of him coming to spurs is laughable, same when people were talking about Sneijder and Robben coming last season.

However Blackburn are a slightly different kettle of fish, they've built their team with cheap players & Hughes has got them playing really well, I'm not sure they have the financial strength to turn down top bids.

I don't want Bentley anyway.

I have an idea: rotate

Lennon for the bottom 15 clubs
Bentley against the top 4

Well, to fair, the idea is no more flipping ridiculous than people giving up on Lennon @ 19

Yeh sorry Yiddotilidie, the hating Lennon thing wasn't directed at you just didn't want to make a new post to say it to everyone.

The flast goal on the first video is the perfect example of what he should do every single time. He shouldn't ever try to cross it, he should just hammer it across the box, its such a hard ball to defend.

In the second video when he has a final ball all the good ones are when he just knocks it straight across the box. So simple but so hard to stop.

Against the top 4 this season:

bentley - 0 goals and 0 assists in 7 starts

lennon - 1 goal and 3 assists in 8 starts

(the above stats cover open play; bentley has 1 assist from a set-piece against Ar5ena1 in the CC)

I suggest we look elsewhere. We can do better than Bentley.Especially for the reported £15 million asking price.

Another shit player is Ronaldo. He'd only scored once against the top four before the Liverpool game. So Lennon is better than him, right?

but he's had several assists against top 4 teams. i remember him tearing arsenal apart.

Not this season he hasn't he has 3 assist in the league against the powerhouses of the league in the form of Derby, Birmingham and Newcastle. Last season no assists against the other top 4 clubs. The season before that 1 assist against Chelsea was his only assist against top 4 clubs.

Lennon is too one dimensional, if you stop him beating you, you've beaten him!!

Mmm....the same argument could have been levelled at C.Ronaldo season or so back with him stepping over the ball a million times before spooning the ball out of play....The evidence NOW speaks for itself I think. Eek

Simple fact is Lennon, when he is playing with confidence, is BLOODY HARD to stop and as I've stated before, can open up defences in a flash like nobody else in our team.

And btw...the last thing I would call Aaron Lennon is one dimensional!!! Pace, Skill, Creativity, Helps defend, Crossing is ok (not great but eh), Can also score. What more you want ?!?!?

I would have Aaron over Bentley in my team everytime!!!

That's like arguing ...

For people that want David James to replace Paul Robinson

James - longest kick: 61 yards

Robinson - longest kick: 75 yards

Right. Because Assists and Goals have nothing to do with being a winger.

i agree with you, but i think it is also the lack of variation or his inability to vary his service which is what is getting to people and why he is being tagged a one trick pony

Besides, you dont get a top 4 place by only assisting goals against the best teams. One would need to score and assist agaisnt the bottom ones also...

Bentley clearly has nowhere near the talent of Beckham, it's just because Beckham looks unfit/ageing now.

Bentley will never be anywhere near as good as Beckham has been.
