I don't see us clearing that much out this late in the day, perhaps we should have bit the bullet and offloaded earlier in the season I'm sure some clubs would be interested.

Offloaded to whom? You need to sell to a club who's actually interested in the player and that club presumably needs to be able to afford their wage, that's probably a big indicator as to why they are still here.

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

That's a good point - it's not just a case of the transfer fee but obviously other financial commitments. Players like Ndombele are a massive headache. I guess that we're already going to have to take a massive hit but if he does have a reputation now of not being motivated then I'm struggling to think of anyone who will be interested. If football is not his challenge and he's already on decent money then where else can he go that he'll see it as a challenge?

Possibly mate but you or I don't know do we?
Are you confident of more incomings within the next few days?

Yeah I honestly think we can clear aurier and sissoko, even if it's loans but we're probably trying to get a fee desperately. Ndombele may be harder but if we can get a loan with obligation or option then we may have to take it.

I have no problem with winks but if we could have upgraded him with Kessie and someone like Aouar to Ndombele suddenly our midfield looks reaaaaaaly good on paper. 3 attacking minded or box to box CMs in Dele, Aouar, and GLC and 3 defensive minded (deep lying) in Kessie, PEH, and Skipp.

Depending on the opposition we could line up with tons of different combinations, even though I doubt we'd carry 6 midfielders

Steppingstone? I must have missed that, do you have a quote?

There's only a handful of clubs around the world who can guarantee silverware and accolades, unless you think he's good enough to play for PSG or Man City.

His quote was "it the best option and keep on improving and growing"

Tbh I haven't really followed the guy and its not about teams guaranteeing silverware it's about teams looking to win silverware. Leicester won the FA Cup and the charity shield last season.

Excellent player but similar to PEH. Neither a holding midfilder nor a creative/passing type. A lot of energy, strong, more output than PEH in the final third. Not sure both would work too well in the same team so doubt this is a priority, as much as I rate him.

So he said nothing about 'steppingstone' then clearly, you obviously made that up - glad we got that sorted.

I honestly have no idea what your argument is regarding silverware, not sure what you're trying to say.

So in your opinion when a new signees signs for a club and he says "it's the best option to keep growing and improving" what is he trying to say?

He went from a very interesting and good addition to our midfield to the Ivorian Ashley Westwood in 24 hours.

Has there been any ITK on this one? Sounds like someone that would add strength to our midfield

He's trying to say it's the best option to keep growing and improving.

There doesn't always need to be a hidden agenda in quotes, not everything needs to be deciphered and broken down, maybe he just sees some potential in the project even if some of our fans refuse to see it.

Anyway we're digressing massively from the subject...

Im not deciphering anything I'm just quoting what he said and what's this project you're talking about?

Why are you making this so difficult? ?‍♀️

If you read Romero's quotes properly you would have said he mentioned:

I only wanted Spurs because I really like this project. Paratici and the whole club wanted me and I’ll give my best. Premier League is the best way to continue my career.

Couldn't find anything about 'steppingstone' by the way...

Yes this is literally it, every club is struggling to offload players (not just us) and that's due to the fact that they're still recovering from the revenue loss from the pandemic and PL players are on huge wages in comparison to what the majority of the foreign clubs pay, I think some fans just want us to offload players by just buying out their contracts and letting them leave on a free which is terrible business - the reality is that some of our players just don't want to move because they aren't being offered anywhere near what they are getting at their clubs.

I'm asking you what is the project?

I mean I'm sure you're clever enough to work out what a project is in relation to the quote, what do you think it is?

Pretty pointless carrying on this discussion, you're either looking to argue the toss or you're genuinely lost in which I really can't be arsed to carry it on, it's irrelevant to the topic anyway.

Have a good day (y)

He said progression, nothing about accolades or silverware simply steppingstone before he moves onto a bigger club.
But you do know there are bigger clubs out there right?
If you only want players who see Spurs as the absolute pinnacle of their dreams, then we might have a problem getting anyone.

You have to be realistic. If the good ones want to become great at Spurs, then it's beneficial all around. No?
