If we are going to replace Tim i dont see the point of more inexperience, we should get LVG.

TBF he is a mini LVG and not like Cryuff(which is like most dutch managers)

I think there is a shit load of good candidates in the summer available but the job is Tim's to lose first(thats if he wants it)

I explained this many times, this season and last season both shown that the bottom 12/10 teams have been struggling and hence the top 8 picking up more points than usual. This doesn't mean better.

This season we will likely break that points total does that mean Sherwood is a great manager by beating out best points haul?

I don't buy your explanation at all. We'd have to look at each club and compare to gage exactly who is weaker and who is stronger. I think the league is generally harder than it's ever been this season.

If Sherwood beats that points haul from last season he will have done exceedingly well and will at least deserve the same kind of recognition that AVB deserved for doing the same last season.

The only sticking point for me is his European record.

Yes he has a fantastic record in the Eriedivisie - 66% win, where the competition is not really that great.

However, in Europe, where the competition is far greater his win percentage drops down to 33%

I am not saying that is is a bad manager, I am just cautious of judging a manager by his exploits in a far inferior league to the PL.
Yes, but look at the team he has, I would say that win percentage is very good, considering who he has played, and the players at this disposal. You make it sound like his record is terrible.

he has managed:

13/14
Drew with Milan both legs
Split with Barcelona
Split with Celtic
12/13
Were drawn in a group with Madrid, City and Dortmund
-lost away at Dortmund to a 87' stunner
-beat City at home and drew away
-in EL, they lost out to Bucharest on penalties
11/12
-Tied with Lyon both legs
-Split with Dinamo
-in El, lost to United by 1 goal on aggregate

I think that is a very respectable record.

Disagree. I don't think Frank De Boer, manager of Ajax, nearly 4 years is inexperienced. I don't know about LVG & how available he is.
IMO, FDB has always been a winner - won everything he could have including CL & and as manager has had a good spell for Ajax, given they were struggling to get the silverware in 2010s.

He is calmness personified & would be more suited to us.

If Van Gaal is available, hands down he is the overwhelming choice. If not, FDB is the best choice out there.

Another wild card I want to throw in is Prandelli - top coach/,manager

Agree, people have likely forgotten that de Boer got the job at Ajax after Jol was fired. He is pretty much the same as Sherwood, albeit + 3/4 years. If we had the opportunity to grab a proper top tier manager this summer, it would be foolish for us to skip over them for a de Boer.

Really well heres a quick statistic view of it

2012 Mean point haul 52.3 points so rounded down 52 points
2013 Mean point haul 51.6 points so rounded up 52 points

Now in 2012 teams who finished lower than the mean points law was 11
Now in 2013 the amount of teams who finished lower than the mean points law was 13 teams

In 2012 the the majority of lower teams were broadly focused between 35 points and 55 points and only Man City and Man United were big anomalies, (having both finished on the same points, 20 points ahead of us)

In 2013 there were two leagues almost, the majority of the lower team were focused between 35 and 50 points with only 3 teams achieving more than 45 or higher points and 10 teams failing to achieve 45 points. Then was a separate league with about 5/6 teams focused around the 70-75 points mark.

So this doesn't say much about the quality of individual teams but shows there was two leagues last season in the PL, with the top 7 and the rest. The rest however struggled to pick up as many points as usual.

I agree, and he really should consider himself lucky to have got such a big chance.

I just think it makes us look completely shambolic. We clearly sacked AVB without having anything in mind in terms of replacing him, which is pretty daft.

Doesn't that add weight to the belief that it wasn't results that saw his demise, but that he'd grown impossible to work with?

True. All the more damning for Jol who failed to win it even with Suarez leading the line. :ROFLMAO:

Having lost just three games all season, with 85 points and a GD of +86. He couldn't do a whole lot about Twente losing only two.

Now there's a thought—Second Choice Steve McLaren!

Well, total points gathered by teams finishing from 8th to 20th was easily lower than in previous 3 seasons. Take for example 2010/11 and compare it to 2012/2013, difference was over 40 points (565 vs. 521) meaning they gathered about 8,5% more points in 2010/11. That is quite a relevant difference.

Because LVG has left a trail of chaos almost everywhere he has been. Yes he has achieved success, but the disharmony he will cause just isn't worth it IMO, especially since he would most likely be another short term appointment. In short, the man is an utter lunatic.

I have to disagree the in part.

Yes LVG is a loony but he has also left the foundations for fantastic teams to build upon when leaving.

He left barca after bringing in xavi , puyol and iniesta into the team. Guardiola has even said LVG has had the biggest influence on his management style and tactical awareness of any manager he's played under. At Bayern he gave debuts to Muller, Badstuber and is credited with relauncging Schweinsteiger as a defensive midfielder instead of a winger.

LVG is known for always looking to younger players rather than making signings and he was the chief proponent of promoting the Ajax youngsters that won him the champions league when every one called him a loon.

He would almost certainly leave a legacy of youth players well drilled and disciplined in the club style of play.

My only qualm is that teams tend to start off slow when new to a job because he wants the team to play 100% his way. Would we be patient enough to wait until say December before seeing the best of his teams

I'd love to see de Boer come in, no language barrier, 4 years of management with a high expectation level at Ajax, would have been at many clubs and would know how to set up a club from top to bottom having been at Ajax my concern would be Tottenham and would they back him properly, not convinced any manager at spurs under ENIC has been left to do their jobs without interference.
