Only worry I have is, if he turns out great, then Barca will come calling. But I guess you run that risk with most appointments.

That's a bit like saying I've won £76,000,000 on the lottery but only a £100,000 will be protected if the bank goes tits up.
Besides, f he turns out to be great and helps us reach out potential then his job is done and the pool of managers that we'd pick his successor from would include some incredible talent

I dont think the Dutch League is ever a proper apprenticeship for the PL. He is going to find the PL is a brutal place to try to learn on the job. Its his lack of experience that worries me. Another Laudrup in the making if you want my opinion.
Then how about the CL, he has more CL experience than any other tottenham manager ever!

Tend to agree with this, however knowing us we will lose a few games and the panic button will be pressed once again.

I don't think we can afford to again. I know you disagree but I don't think avb was up to the job regardless of the amount of time he was given. If sherwood goes at the end of the season, which I think he will, levy really has to get the next man right or I can see the masses turning on him

Sooner we get in Van Gaal or de Boer and Sherwood goes back to his youth role, the better off the club will be, IMO. Can't wait for the summer!

The football Ajax played against Barcelona was like from a different planet. Some of their other matches were great too. This is with a club which traditionally brings through young talent before having to sell them when they get recognition. If he was available I don't think we could have a better coach

I dont think it takes much managerial skill to win the league with Ajax, but if he is truly exceptional he is the right age.

He was also mentioning Liverpool, so there's a chance we might lose the Boer war.
I dare say, he'll be hugely in demand - any high profile clubs with managerial casualties and he'll be firmly up near the top of most lists.

I have always supported Levy ( and still do) but he has to stop replacing managers every couple of years, however i agree if Sherwood does go we have to get a manager who will be given the time ( by the board and the boo boys) otherwise we will be talking about transision seasons for ever.

It's not "without context" when the goal is to finish 4th, not to make Bale look good.

Under AVB we looked congested in the middle of the park, which strangely seems to be what you are saying about Harry's team. Less width? Are you joking? Under Harry we probably had the most exciting well balanced wide play in the League. Yes Bale was beginning to outgrow his wide role, but who's to say Harry wouldnt have played him centrally the next season (if still employed), as I believe the infamous "I want to play centrally" convo happened that Summer.

The point I'm getting at is that it wasn't enough for AVB to simply have Bale in his squad to achieve the results he did last season (I'd say they were good, you may say they were absolutely abysmal, since we ended up in fifth instead of fourth).
He had to utilise him him in a way that let him do what he could do best without compromising the teams balance.

As you surely remember, we weren't setting the league on fire from late february and more or less the entire march and april (one win in nine games). This is the period I'm referring to. A period where we often played with two strikers, Modric, Parker, the new trequartista-Bale and Van der Vaart and (not exactly a line hogger) and sometimes Kranjcar.

Redknapp did no adjustments to the side then, and went on with playing his usual suspects which in my opinion contributed to our bottling.

This is however not meant as a dig at Redknapp, it's more my way of pointing out that AVB did some things that allowed Bale to do his thing and get the best out of him.

Or in other words, I'd say AVB did contribute to Bales great season.

This was the last one, Frank.

They're not as good to watch as they were when Jol was in charge.
