I think it can be relevant to the appointment of a new manager though. We sacked AVB because of certain issues, so we need to make sure that we aren't repeating the same mistakes with a new man.

Great point. And it's not just AVB - our track record of hiring coaches because they've had success in different leagues have ALL ended in failure; being Gross, Santini, Ramos and AVB (and we should've had an inkling about him after his Chelsea time).

So to simply look at the Continental flavour of the month in De Boer or Simeone (no chance of him by the way!!) doesn't mean they will be a success - with our experience, it is likely to be the opposite. This needs serious consideration when deciding on the next victim, sorry coach.

Amazing that we achieved our best ever pints haul and highest win percentage with all this underperforming ?

In 2012-13 AVB got 3 points more than Harry's Tottenham in the previous season. Are you saying all our players performed well for the majority of games under Harry too?

I think we need to work out now who our manager will be, and then actually allow that manager to choose the set up that goes around him. I'm not sure what Baldini's role really is at the moment, but I hope we don't try and shoe-horn the next manager into a system that he's not comfortable in.

To be honest though I'm really worried about what's happening now with our management search. As I've said before, if I was De Boer I wouldn't come anywhere near Spurs.

Levy is going to be all over de Boer in the summer. If he doesn't budge then LVG is the man IMO. Which will piss LVG off and he'll eventually last < a season, forcing us to go back in for de Boer late next season or Summer 2015. So it's basically 18 months before we can begin again.

Can't see Levy ever giving a manager (or coach) such power. He did it with Redknapp when we staring into the abyss but, by all accounts, it was reluctantly and he always wanted to return to a DOF situation.

I dont think the Dutch League is ever a proper apprenticeship for the PL. He is going to find the PL is a brutal place to try to learn on the job. Its his lack of experience that worries me. Another Laudrup in the making if you want my opinion.

I don't know why but my full commitment to Tim just got thrown out the window when I read the De Boer quotes. How pathetic :D. Guess footballers act the same way though :(

I would love him but he believes in possession football. Which apparently isn't the 'Tottenham way'.

Well, trying to bore the opposition and supporters to death by meaningless passing around the midfield and defence certainly isn't.

And taking out two seasons where Ramos had his part to play, joint lowest league finish since 2004/5 when we were 9th.

To paraphrase one Alan Partridge, something which BC singularly fails to point out, perhaps because it doesn't quite fit in with his blinkered view of the world.

I explained this many times, this season and last season both shown that the bottom 12/10 teams have been struggling and hence the top 8 picking up more points than usual. This doesn't mean better.

This season we will likely break that points total does that mean Sherwood is a great manager by beating out best points haul?

I agree. Sometimes it is worth having a punt on a new manager, but we have just had far too many punts in the last 5 or so years.

We need stability, someone with a proven track record, and who we can give a period of time to get things right, and no knee jerk reactions when things go a little bit difficult.

So on reflection, and looking at that criteria, looks like we will be taking a punt again with our next manager :(

(that is if Timmy goes in the summer:cautious:)

I suppose we can be thankful our current coach is eminently more qualified and not having to learn on the job then.

Oh no, my mistake...
