According to latest rumours reported by A Bola, Tottenham manager André Villas-Boas is willing to sign Colombian international midfielder Fredy Guarin (26), who he shared a common happy and memorable experience at Porto with, in 2010/11, ending in Europa League victory. English giants are ready to submit Inter, which Guarin is currently on a deal with until June 2016, an about 10 million euros offer.

like this guy, Fredy and Gundogan would be my personal favourites to take up the Luka role but with what is now a very highly rated team in Bor Dortmund I doubt that Gundogan would want to leave for possibly Europa league. Plus his value is now probably around £20m. I doubt we could lure Guarin away for that much, what's that about £8m? I'd guess around £13m. Think he's a good payer, strong, great shot, good pass and a deep lying midfielder. Happy if the rumours are true but most likely lazy journalism in the way we need a player of his type and the Porto connection.

He's been Inter's best player all season, IMO. Having said that, I'm sure I could be their MVP seeing how shit they are this year. Not really the creative force we need in midfield. A bit too similar to Dembele for me. A better passer I guess, whereas Dembele is better in the tackle and dribbling slightly.

Yeah we already have the Guarin-like cog for AVB's preferred midfield 3 in Dembele. We need a more creative player alongside him and Sandro.

A select round-up of transfer rumours relating to Tottenham Hotspur, including Fredy Guarin, Nacer Cahdli and Manolo Gabbiadini.
Andre Villas-Boas is apparently considering making a move for Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin, who could be available for around £17million this summer. Villas-Boas worked with Guarin during his spell at the Italian club, and might see the Colombian as the perfect man to add some extra creativity to Spurs’ midfield.
Guarin has filled in a wide variety of positions for Inter this year, but is predominantly and attacking central midfielder. The 26-year-old contributed four goals and three assists in 32 Serie A appearances last season, adding a further three goals and five assists in his eight Europa League outings.
With Inter finishing ninth in Serie A, Guarin might be prepared to move in order to play European football next season, although Spurs could face competition from Napoli, who have also been linked with the player.
Spurs are also apparently monitoring youngster Manolo Gabbiadini, who is currently on duty for Italy at the under-21 European Championships. The 21-year-old can play across and attacking three, but has generally been used as a striker by Bologna this season, where he has scored six times in 30 appearances.
Gabbiadini is clearly more one for the future than someone Spurs would expect to be starting every game, but he has great potential, and his heading ability is excellent. It might be a tricky deal to complete though, as Gabbiadini is co-owned by Juventus and Atalanta, having spent last season on loan at Bologna.
The agent of FC Twente winger Nacer Chadli has suggested his client would be open to a move to the Premier League this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur among the teams reportedly vying for the Belgian’s signature.
Agent Daniel Evrard said the 23-year-old was also being pursued by Ajax, but that he would be interested in a switch away from the Eredivisie. Spurs fans might remember Chadli from their Champions League campaign a few years ago, where he scored for FC Twente against them in both group games.
Chadli is currently on international duty with Belgium, but his agent expects a decision to be made on his future this month.

BREAKING NEWS on SKY ITALIA - Inter have turned down a €20m bid from Tottenham for Guarin.

Would be one hell of a signing.

LOL.

Guarin is a good player, in fact a very good one, but him being worth more than Mousa - and Inter turning it down - is laughable.

So... we're willing to play 20m for Guarin who's value will only decrease but won't pay the same cost for a 20 year old Brazilian who's value arrow should at least stay the same for a few years, if not really tip upward. I haz a confuse.

If we want a player similar to him at half the cost: Bibras Natkho. He's also younger (and actually, a lot better).

No way we'd offer that money for him, I agree it smells of BS.

I keep confusing him with Vidal, who really is a class act - Guarin is alright, but not that alright.

exactly my thoughts.. from the Bleacher report... shows how he would really fit into our system of play.
Guarin plays in the No. 10 role himself, but he's far from the prototypical playmaker—in fact, you might say he's the complete opposite.
The Colombian is a big physical presence; he's just over 6' tall, packs on the muscle and can get going with some speed. In Portugal, he played a more orthodox midfield role without standing out, so it was odd to see Inter pick him up for a pretty big price.
But he's been deployed further forward in order to invert the midfield triangle we've become accustomed to seeing: anchoring midfielders just in front of the defence as a screen, creators further forward.
Guarin playing further up is advantageous for two reasons.
Firstly, he can tackle, and that means Inter have an increased chance of winning the ball back higher up the pitch.
It's not unlike Sergio Busquets' more advanced role against Milan on Tuesday, where the Spaniard was close to Massimo Ambrosini for long periods and robbed him on more than one occasion.
Secondly, he's able to surge forward from deep with power and knows there's a security blanket of up to three defensive midfielders behind him. He can start attacks on his own and physically drag his team up the field when under pressure.
Guarin is like a train when he gets going, and to unleash him fully (Yaya Toure style), he needs to be played in a more advanced role.
When he does win the ball back high up the pitch, his task is to immediately lay it off to the more creative types. That's where Rodrigo Palacio and Antonio Cassano's pace and movement is so important—can the defenders react quickly enough to track them?
Andrea Stramaccioni is not on his own in using this tactic, but it is rare. MarioMandzukic fulfilled a similar, if more limited, role at Euro 2012, and Ivan Rakitic has played it for Sevilla this season.

And his contract is up in January, can't see why we wouldn't be interested.

Yeah, he'd be a perfect player for us to round out our midfield. He can pretty much play the AM, Dembele or Sandro role at a high level. He's a great talent. He would be a perfect replacement to Parker's spot in the squad.

Looks like that spot might be covered by Radja Nainggolan... another player with an equally difficult name to pronounce properly!
