I like the player and would love him for squad depth, but as has been said many times before in this thread why would u leave City’s bench for ours? He clearly wants first team football which he won’t get here
High likelihood he's not getting on Citys bench much next year, and is annoyed the first 2 people through the door in Alverez & Haaland play in his position though - he's defo getting less game time than this year, and was reportedly already unhappy with the lack of time. He'd play loads of games here, essentially Lucas' minutes. IMO we need to get away from thinking starting XI, every successful club in the EPL has quality options for positions, so they can rotate, deal with injuries - why shouldn't we?

Not saying he won’t get any minutes but at this point in his career I think he wants more than cup matches, the odd start against lower competition and 10 min sub appearances.
He’d be an upgrade on Moura for sure but he’s not getting into the first 11

He’ll get plenty of minutes rotating across the front three if we want to challenge on all fronts.

If I was him I would go Arsenal and play every week as the number one striker in a young improving team. And I suspect that’s what he’ll do.

Bear in mind that all of him, Son and Kulusevski can play in any configuration left or right and that he can start centrally. It’s really not a good idea to play Kulu/Kane/Son every game like we did since around February, barring injury.

Jesus is arguably good enough that he will properly compete with Kulu, will offer great back up to Kane AND be able to cover Son for rest and possibly when Son hits one of his dry spells.

Your looking at a possible 25 league starts before considering European matches, cups AND injuries to any of the front three. The notion that he’d simply replace Lucas’ minutes is ridiculous.

It shouldn’t be ‘starting XI’, we need to get past that concept, we should have around 14-16 players where there is a genuine argument as to what our best eleven is, and they are all competing. Anything beyond that can be proper back up/depth with as high a quality as we can manage.

You mean like Jota and Diaz was put of by competing with Salah and Mane? Should be a non issue to get in quality to compete with Harry and Son if you want to be a top club, you just have to pay the wages
Exactly.

Thinking more about this I'd prefer Richarlison. He could play as a target man, or a winger which could really help. Both of them are supposedly effort monsters, which is always great.

If it comes off, I have to admit that's a very good signing for them. He is miles above Lacazette and Nketiah, sure he gets memed for some misses in City's system but he possesses real PL-proven goalscoring instincts and is a great dribbler and mover. I was hoping Arsenal would have gotten cute with the striker signing, he will really improve them.

Would prefer a big athletic physical centre forward who is strong in the air. I like the look of Osimhen but Napoli are asking silly money for him.

If he’s delaying his decisions until after the Brazil games, I expect plenty of recruitment talks with Martinelli and Gabriel, just like Alisson had with Fabinho iirc.

I see the appeal of that. Isn’t De Ketalare around 6’3”?

Personally, if we are buying from City I’d rather try for Sterling.

I don’t think anyone has commented on whether Citeh will deal with us or not?

They may flatly turn us down after we blew them off for HK, and may not want to strengthen their bogey team further.

Yeah I have that same feeling. I seem to recall that one of the derisory offers for Harry last summer was the opportunity to buy one of their players, not an exchange, but just the opportunity to bid. Cheeky ****s.

You’re talking from our perspective with which I agree I’d gladly have him the squad. I’m talking from his perspective. He’s a nailed on starter at Woolwich or several other clubs and I just think that’s what he wants at this point in his career

Emm, dare I say, you weren’t ?

I was responding directly to the “ cup matches, odd starts against lower opposition and 10 minutes here and there “

I feel like this is significantly underplaying what his value could be to us, and how he would be deployed and I think IF we are actually going for him, we wouldn’t be projecting our intentions of game time as such. Thus, I doubt that would be his perspective on the issue anyway.

Of course, you are correct that at Arsenal he’d be the main man.

Let me ask people this.. how would we be going about selling ourselves to Dybala, what game time would we be projecting to him, and what would he ultimately get ? Is there any difference really ? Jesus is proven in this league, Dybala is not. There are no assurances that Dybala would be any better in this league than Jesus is.
