Good. Overall he's not been good value for money. A few great games interspersed with crap. Shame really. Sums up our season really. Amazing we are still well in the fight for top 4.

I wouldn't even have him on the bench for the rest of the season. If this is all it's been about, the last thing he's going to do is get himself injured. No way is commitment going to be there.

I bet it was a different story 10 days ago. If he's not prepared to fight for his place the Spanish golf courses are the right place for him.

You know what I don't give a shit about? And 95% of Tottenham supporters don't give a shit about? Wales' prospects in the Euros. I don't even give a shit about England's prospects compared to my club. And I'm not interested in players using that club as a season-long training camp for a summer tournament.

He's only stated the facts. He is on a one-season loan, after that (and the Euros) he returns to Madrid.
I'm not sure what else he's supposed to say?

Does seem to support the belief that he is/was using us primarily to get fit, and have some form of game time, in order to feature for Wales in the summer.

That was always going to be the case. If Levy/Mourinho couldn’t see that & didn’t take it into account I’d be amazed.

Of course this could be a bluff as Madrid are now saying they want £20m for him and as we know no one can afford that and his wages so threaten them with staying which would severely hamper any spending plans they may have...

I seem to be in a minority; I would keep him. I think he has looked very good with some flashes of brilliance since he has got fit. I don't care about his wages. We seem to have become obsessed with the idea that we need to get good value or talk about our return on investment- I don't care. I want to win stuff and he is a winner.

Wonder if we will be able to track his plane on the way out, what a grand waste of time and money if true....

Is it just coincidence that the stuff came out about “selfish” players and then we get this?

my instant response to reading that headline was "bye Gareth". I'm shocked myself :(

What I would like to happen, is that he plays like he has been playing for the last few games, scores the winner in the final and then we have a decision to make. (can I give myself an optimistic rating?)

This is all about getting a payoff. His agreement with us only lasts this season so what is he supposed to say?

That he's very happy at the club and he's open to staying another season if the club want to extend. He could have said that.
