I seem to be in a minority; I would keep him. I think he has looked very good with some flashes of brilliance since he has got fit. I don't care about his wages. We seem to have become obsessed with the idea that we need to get good value or talk about our return on investment- I don't care. I want to win stuff and he is a winner.
Totally agree. He hasn't been given much game time but in recent weeks he has shown he is still a class act and can produce moments of brilliance that can win matches. We don't have many of his class in the side so I would play him every week until the end of the season and he will assist and score goals. How many players do we have that when they get the ball you are expecting something to happen. I have that feeling every time with Bale. We know our manager only likes work horses and he has never fancied Bale for that reason but I would rather have players of his class than a team workers that produce nothing.

This is all about getting a payoff. His agreement with us only lasts this season so what is he supposed to say?

Actually, according to ITK on here (Trix I believe), the original deal includes an option to have the same deal next season if we and Bale want.

No disrespect to ITK’s but we cannot take what they say as facts.

That he's very happy at the club and he's open to staying another season if the club want to extend. He could have said that.
Why would you say your happy when you are clearly fed up with the manager seemingly blaming you for the teams poor form when there are players out there not giving a fig and have no real ability at all.

I think if that's true Bale would have been happy to stay another season but why stay when you know the manager doesn't rate you. Personally I would keep Bale Get rid of the manager and get one in who knows how to get the best out of him.

He's only stated the facts. He is on a one-season loan, after that (and the Euros) he returns to Madrid.
I'm not sure what else he's supposed to say?

I agree. There isn't much to get wound up about. The loan hasn't really been a success though and it has been annoying not to get to see him play live. I suspect he would of been much better playing in front of fans.

So go back to the club where the coach and supporters don't rate you lol

The fact is Madrid dont appear to want him and according to his agent has treated him badly, he needs to adjust to that.

No I'm sure they don't but contractually they're obliged to take him back & pay his wages.
What's he meant to say "I'm not going back there because I've been treated badly"??
He doesn't need to adjust to anything; he's made it clear he'll sit there and take his money if it comes to it. A big motivation for going on loan this season was to build fitness for the Euros, Madrid won't have that in their favour come the summer.

People are reading way too much into this virtually info-free article. The Athletic usually has better journalism than this.

Bale has stated the facts and refused to be drawn further, which is what he always does. The rest is journalistic embroidery. Read it again without your Spurs glasses on. He has stated the contractual position because he doesn't want to be asked questions. Then he has made one factual comment about his fitness level prior to Euros.

The rest is just not-even-very-clever editing.

if he does get fit and plays well at the Euros then id guess he'll be looking for a new contract somewhere. Given his wages, age and our style, i cant see it being us.

No he's not meant to say that, neither do I want him to stay with Spurs as I dont thnk he has been value for money. I expected some along the lines of 'I'm not sure, we'll have to wait and see'.

Hope he does stay but it seems pretty obvious the manager doesn't want him, doubt we will see him start again unless we go on a bad run and will only get on if we're behind,as long as we're winning 1-0 regardless of how we're playing we know it will be Sisokko folks.
Think things may have worked out differently if we'd had fans in the stadium but not to be.
Think he'd be crazy to stay if Mourinho is still here.

He hasn’t been given time due to injuries or not being in form. That has been the pattern for him for many years now.

Funny how some react with anger at this quote. Like he's disloyal or some shit. He's at loan this season and have a contract with Madrid. Until anything else has been agreed, there's nothing more to say.

100% this - if he said anything different then it would be mental and rather out of character. All he's done is discussed the deal and acknowledged what that deal entails, now the ball is back in Real's court to decide if they want to pay him off, discuss a different deal with us or what.

Imo, football aside, I think Bales handled this whole thing with Real very astutely. They gave him a contract - an obscene contract - and he intends to claim every penny and I can't fault him for that. Suggesting that he wants something other than the already agreed to arrangement would jeopardise that.

It's quite possible that Levy is helping proof read his statements and the pair of them laugh at how Real are finally being held to one of these, frankly, ridiculous contracts they throw around, knowing that if Real do have any desire to draw a line under this and get him off their books both Bale and Spurs could benefit. Until then, the deal sits.
