Have to say I don't think Jose's style of play will suit Bale.

It is difficult to assess how he would fit in a Mourinho side, isn't it?

If only we had some evidence of how Bale would operate in a team that plays stultifyingly dull, safety-first, defensive football full of side-to-side passing under a miserable, self-obsessed Portuguese manager who alienates everyone who comes into contact with him.

Spurs have nipped this in the bud.

Either that, or they’re trying to tell Gareth something.

Let’s face facts too; his agent is a hard baller and wouldn’t let a 28 year old client who’s just done what GB has done on a Saturday to regress a level. There’s years of earning potential there.

Don't know if it's true, don't know if it counts for fuck all, but I was told yesterday that Johnathan Barnett has recently started a new business venture with ENIC.

Pretty silly going to United as I cannot see them winning anything next season with Mourinho and after that he'll probably be sacked.

And if he’s sacked, I would very much doubt a new manager wouldn’t want Bale there.... unless Zidane became the new manager :D.

Besides, I think Bale’s situation at Madrid is unique. Madrid are unlike any other club really. There is so much politics involved.

Oh come on buddy, you know that was not even close to the point I was making. Whether it's Bale or any other player in a similar status/success bracket, they'll be able to command a higher salary than any of the players in our squad that have won the square route of fuck all.

I wasn't saying anything negative or derogatory about anyone. It was nothing more than attempting to point out that our current players couldn't (or shouldn't) have their noses put out of joint if we signed a player of such caliber and he was earning more than them.

Thankfully most of our regular / key players seem grounded and intelligent enough to be able to understand & comprehend that, in my opinion.

I wasn't accusing you of making that suggestion I was merely saying that a by-product of penalizing our players for their honours may lead to them looking at where they can achieve those things.

I agree that most of our players don't see things that way but thats probably because we work hard to make them see they can get everything they need here.

Nah it's not penalising our players if we sign a truly world class player & pay him for being such. I genuinely believe each and every one of our key players would not have an issue with it.

Come on, we know how this stuff works. After Bale's post-match interview on Saturday, every journo on the Spurs beat will have been contacting the THFC press office / their 'sources' in the club to try and get a scoop. They probably hoped for a simple "no comment" from Spurs so they could write "SPURS REMAIN TIGHT-LIPPED ON BALE RETURN" and get a load of clicks from over-excited Tottenham fans.

Instead, they've been told "Gareth is on very high wages at Madrid, it's unrealistic to think we'd be able to match that" - which doesn't make for a very interesting headline, whereas "BALE WILL NOT RETURN TO TOTTENHAM" will get some attention.

Spurs rarely comment on transfer speculation, but we're in the process of trying to renew the contracts of some of our top players, and the last thing we need is their agents delaying any new agreements while they wait to see whether we're about to smash our wage structure for a superstar. Getting the message out there now that we're not looking to start paying silly wages anytime soon is probably a good thing in that regard.

If it’s 200m now I can’t see it happening and I am one of the most optimistic people out there. Sorry guys!

I just read the headline and then the article.
Fkin joke journalism.

Edit. Should add theres no chance of him coming back to Spurs imo.

So many straws being clutched.

Bale isn't coming back, if him going to United means Martial is free then I would be happy with that.

Martial is 22 and has his best years ahead of him, Bale is winding down.
