TBH though, and this isn’t a slight on ITK, it’s kind of more official when it comes through Alasdair, who’s kind of a club mouthpiece, and the BBC.
I like @Allygold a lot and he’s a talented writer who has worked very hard to get where he is, including going abroad to enhance his name, but I think he’d be very uncomfortable with the notion that anyone considered him a mouthpiece of the club.

I believe we had a chance until he came off that bench on sat night. His value went up by roughly 30 mil some suspect. I dont think levy can pull a rabbit outta that hat. But with this reporting that spurs r not interested well thats exactly what id expect. Levy would not want it known we r interested til he gets the phone call from madrid. So just on that point because of that clause i wouldnt care what was said by the club....

Our ITK guys, Sky, BBC and the newspapers say it isn't happening. Curious to know what it will take for some in here to accept it.
A picture maybe?

Not that I think will happen, but the one thing I don’t get is why bother going to the trouble to negotiate a buy back clause ( which would have involved agreement between all three parties) if there was never any intention or feasible way of using it?

It’s not like any of it was supposed to be for public consumption to appease the fans. Or does Levy just simply get off on negotiating pointless clauses?.....

.... actually, I think I know the answer to that already :D.

Weird point. What’s the downside from putting such a clause into a contract? Absolutely none so why not. Bale could have been an absolute flop and desperate to return back after a year for example

Pretty silly going to United as I cannot see them winning anything next season with Mourinho and after that he'll probably be sacked.

You've lost me there, Gb . My post that you quoted was pointing out that Bale has won multipple CL titles, domestic honours etc etc, so until other players have matched those achievements, they can't really complain about him being the higher earner.

I honestly don't have a clue how you twist that into me suggesting Kane goes to Real Madrid?

Well how did Bale achieve those honours?

We’ve also had reliable ITK that we are trying to make it happen. If it bothers you that much that people have hope, there are several other threads you can read instead.

People are welcome to have hope and clutch as many straws as they like. My opinion doesn't matter at all. I said I was curious to know.

Oh come on buddy, you know that was not even close to the point I was making. Whether it's Bale or any other player in a similar status/success bracket, they'll be able to command a higher salary than any of the players in our squad that have won the square route of fuck all.

I wasn't saying anything negative or derogatory about anyone. It was nothing more than attempting to point out that our current players couldn't (or shouldn't) have their noses put out of joint if we signed a player of such caliber and he was earning more than them.

Thankfully most of our regular / key players seem grounded and intelligent enough to be able to understand & comprehend that, in my opinion.

He's winning everything at Madrid. I'm not sure trophies are his main concern at the moment.

I should’ve known that part of the post would get jumped on. I obviously didn’t mean he’s the bastion of all knowledge on the club but his form of journalism isn’t reporting “spurs interested in messi and Suarez swoop” it’s completely about actual events and as such I’d presume all his info comes directly from the club, not that he gets much exclusive info which makes the bale stuff more reliable for me as why risk your reputation on something like that.

Anyway all journalists are mouthpieces for clubs, very rarely does stuff leak from clubs that they don’t want you to know I don’t know why that makes anyone “uncomfortable”

Have to say I don't think Jose's style of play will suit Bale & I can see him Sanchez could be a problem for them. I'd rather see him go to the likes of BMunich, but I suppose he'll go to who's paying the most money.

Briefing the press is always a tool, one way or the other. Tottenham have rang up a few influentials and they’ve put the story out there, but to what end? I’d say it was more about gracefully stepping aside to allow the United camp a summer long run at it, in return for some leniency on the Martial deal.

Spurs have nipped this in the bud.

Either that, or they’re trying to tell Gareth something.

Let’s face facts too; his agent is a hard baller and wouldn’t let a 28 year old client who’s just done what GB has done on a Saturday to regress a level. There’s years of earning potential there.

That BBC article is really poor journalism, maybe they let the cleaners write the sports news today? So Bale won’t return to Spurs because .... he said so (no!), we said so (no!), Madrid said so (no!), his agent said so (no!) .... but because (drum roll) he earns a lot of money.

The BBC and Sky are just taking the opportunity to have another go at Spurs. Gutter journalism with no facts to back it up.
