If we want Bale? he is ours! Problem is, we are not overly zealous. Price is also set to sell-back to us, even if clubs offer more.

Dare I suggest that it feels a little bit spursy of the club to have a golden opportunity to bring Bale back, only then to not be interested in the move. He would tear the league up again for us.

Mixed feelings on this. On one hand, I'd love us to get him back, but on the other I think he's very injury prone nowadays, and 88m is a lot of money to waste like that.
He has 3/4 muscular injuries per season, and most of them in the calf. And imo it will get worse

No way we will pay anywhere near £88m for him. Probably £40m is the agreement in his contract

I think someone said earlier that his calves have always been a little bit of a concern. Kinda came to fruition in some ways.
Personally, I'd love to see him in a Spurs shirt again. I think I'd possibly shed a tear at the thought of the crowd reaction as he walked back out on the pitch for us. I think it would be a thing of beauty/epic as fuck.

At £40m, it's a no brainer. Wages or not. Pay him the same as the others but bump up the performance related add-ons and tell him to keep schtum.

Can someone who watches La Liga give a little summary of what sort of player he is these days?

From the few few games I’ve seen he doesn’t look much like the player we sold in 2013. Looks heavier, slower and less explosive, but I guess that could be the pace of the game and/or how he’s being used.

Still seems to score a fair amount of goals. Is he more of a centre forward now?

It's never as good the second time. Teddy, klinnsmann, keane. He was great for us but his wages and price i'd say no and get the next bale out there.

Very average. Plays on the right of a 3 and doesn’t do much.

Always gets subbed.

I honestly don't know where I sit on the getting Bale back debate.

However, I am loving some of the double standards in this thread.

Lots of posters saying 'don't want him back, injury prone, 29 year old crock, not worth justifying the fee/wage etc...'

However in the Toby thread, who is potentially a 29 year old crock, who hasn't played as many games as Bale this season, saying we should break the bank and Levy should give him what he wants

Only in SC :)

It is why I love this place.

When I watch him he sometimes looks like he just doesn't fit in with the way RM plays. His ability to use his pace and strength isn't really capitalized on.

Other times he looks brilliant when he is given the room to play more freely.. When Ronaldo isn't in the team he looks world class.

Why would RM accept to put a buy back clause for less than what they paid for??

If the clause was for only 40m, Levy would've bought him and sold him again already

Buy back clauses are never inferior to the original buying price. If Bale's lower, Levy is a fcking genius

Having no weaknesses wins you the league. Signing Bale does not address our current weaknesses.

If we want to win the league we need to invest in our midfield and potentially full backs.

Only way it could happen is if only RM can trigger the clause by offering him for sale. Still nonsense figure though.

That's assuming the player has no say in the matter, which he would.

Buy back clauses aren't going to stop the money bag teams from offering him three or four times the amount we can.
