Not on his own I don’t think. Still believe De Ligt should be the priority signing build from the back again. I don’t trust Dier at CB if he had to play there for a run of games or we switch to a three. I think he’s too flat footed and slow on the turn. De Ligt will be one of, if not the best centre half in Europe soon. Would make a massive difference to us already and in the future. Then Central midfield is an area we should be looking at especially if Dembele goes and Wanyama either goes or doesn’t get back to his previous level. I don’t think throwing The youngsters in there is going to get us challenging, FB/WB is another area we could improve as well.

Don’t get me wrong I would love Bale to come back but I think we should take the emotion out of it and look at were we are weakest and improve the whole dynamic of the team if we can get him after that then fantastic.

Unless we're playing back 3 de Ligt wouldn't be first choice. Sanchez has been great and isn't going to be on bench. He's a for the future player and as Vertonghen replacement, great business too but I'm talking about trying to win the league next season. Squad game, long season I know yada yada.

I think CM is number one priority but if we can only afford Bale or a CM I'm choosing Bale every day of the week, we can drop Eriksen deeper. Got Winks too.
If we choose not to buy Bale or he goes elsewhere I would spend huge on a CM. We've got Son and Lucas, unless it was a Bale or a Martial it's pointless chucking money at the position.

Wonder what the buy-back amount is, if we do indeed have one. It would have to be more than what we got for him otherwise why would RM allow a buy-back for someone, who at the time looked like he was gonna be a future Balon D'or winner.

We could just be waiting for someone else to have an offer accepted that is below the buy-back amount, to save a few quid.

We don't it's a first option.

Hmm. Seems to be different takes from different sources then.

End of the day this comes down to Bale. Yes United can offer more but maybe just maybe Bale has his heart set on Spurs.

Financially we’ve earned CL money for 2-3 seasons, the new tv rights money, the increase in income from new stadium. That’s without securing a stadium sponsor. If DL can’t do a deal for Bale now then why bother installing a buyback option.

As I’ve mentioned before there’s a certain figure we need to pay RM, I was told if that figure was met then RM would have to accept.
Obviously Bales personal terms are another matter. Which is why I say this comes down to how much Bale is willing to negotiate a deal with Spurs.

Letting bale sign for UTD would be a real kick in the teeth for us and would increase their chances of catching City and pulling away from us.

No Trix is correct we do have first option.

However I’ve heard if we offer “X amount” then RM will have to negotiate with us.

Will DL offer that figure? Will Bale accept our terms? Time will tell...

Option One: An expensive defender who probably won't start unless we play three at the back, but might have big future potential, a decent 50 mill-ish CM, and Martial or similar.

Option Two: Cheapish, perhaps experienced defender, the same CM as option one, and Gareth Bale.

I know isn't as clear-cut as this whatsoever, but I know which i'd go with out of the two. Not that either option would be a bad window at all.

When you enter the thread & tell people they're talking nonsense, partaking in a wankfest & it's your mission to bring an end to it, enlighten me as to how they're not supposed to take your comments as a personal affront?

Take a joke? Try making one first.

Jesus. You again. Didnt you cry about it enough last time I replied something to you?

Give me option 2. Jonny Evans for cheap, Rabiot and Bale.

Trix responded to "Wonder what the buy-back amount is, if we do indeed have one," from @titan with: "We don't it's a first option." Unless I'm mistaken, he seems to be suggesting that he's heard that we don't have an 'X amount' that we can offer that must be accepted.

FWIW I'm not making a judgement, or anything like that, either way here. I take all info from everyone with the appropriate amount of salt and appreciation, and accept it all as having been passed on in good faith. I suspect that what seems to be a contradiction is just the nature of these things and how they may be communicated.

People need to stop taking the moral high ground over this one. It’s perfectly possible to think if Bale is at all possible we should prioritise him over other signings, yet know that it won’t happen and not throw a hissy fit when we don’t sign him. I’d also be very excited if we got Martial. Doesn’t mean we can’t discuss Bale. It’s clearly something Levy has had in the back of his mind ever since we sold him.

I guess it depends on how much you rate De Ligt. I personally think our options in forward areas are better than at CB and that’s taking into account if we only ever play a back four. I also don’t think Wanyama/Dier Winks Eriksen is a midfield that’s going to win you the league even if you’ve got Bale in your team. Again I don’t know the budget for transfers so if we could improve our weaker areas and add Bale on top, then great.

I was writing this seems a lot of moral high ground stuff in here. Until it becomes a lot clearer with ITK no one can say otherwise. I appreciate they don't know for sure after last night

Well Herc has said we'll be spending 150-170m so the either/or thing doesn't matter anyway. Even with Bale there'd be plenty to spend on a CM and CB to fit into that budget.
Bale, de Ligt and say Weigl for example would probably fit into those figures in a dream world scenario.

Gareth Bale wants Manchester United transfer after Champions League final goals but wages a stumbling block

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...verhead-kick-latest-offer-wages-a8371531.html

Well if even United can't match his wages then no-one can. United don't give a fuck about wages, if Bale wants so much that they are balking then clearly he doesn't want United. Frankly the whole story makes no sense, Bale wants United (a team who already pay Alexis 500k a week) but his wage demands are so high that United aren't biting.
