My brain during the transfer window.

Two days ago - Bale would be the icing on the cake but its not our biggest priority.

After last night - Everything but Bale would be a shit window!

Well if even United can't match his wages then no-one can. United don't give a fuck about wages, if Bale wants so much that they are balking then clearly he doesn't want United. Frankly the whole story makes no sense, Bale wants United (a team who already pay Alexis 500k a week) but his wage demands are so high that United aren't biting.
Seems like Bale is just negotiating.

I think his first choice is Madrid. He believes he should have a place in Madrid. But, if Madrid are going to force him out, he will make it difficult for them to do so - by demanding to keep his wages where they are - which no team in the world can really afford.

So, if Bale leaves for United or Spurs, I expect Madrid will have to subsidize a chunk of his wages, as their cost for pushing him out the door.

It also says they're not interested in a forward after signing Sanchez, tbh I'm always wary of journos who use "sources" say. Those sources could be trawling through ITK threads for all we know

If you think that's how the other players agents will see it you are very much mistaken.

.
I don’t doubt they would use it as a negotiation point but - they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on in real terms.

However I am not naive to think that agents operate within ‘real terms’ and even if they did (and I believe they would) see the logic behind it they would never admit it. Their interest is their client first and formost and I’m sure not many of them would care whether we signed bale or not outside of what value does it bring to their guys bottom line.

Would fans be okay if Bale was our only signing?

There's no reason he would be with the rumoured pot plus player sales. New CB for example would be funded by Toby departure.
I think fans just think he's worth the difference in price between a Zaha/Martial £50 mil purchase and what it would take to sign him, as a one off because he is that special & proven here. Then back to our regular buying model there after.
It might take a cheaper CM or some good fortune with finding buyers for the fringe players, or sacrificing a right back & promoting KWP but if there's a way then we are in dream land.

Doesn't jive with him buying a house in Chigwell either. ;)

Sources to journalists are their own made up imaginations running wild, I just wish that players and managers would call them out on their bullshit and make them feel small.

Whilst they have a lot of forwards apart from mata none are comfortable on the right so I could definitely see them going for another forward

I agree, I'd like us to be brave and go all out to buy him.

But I don't agree that we have no one who can change a game in an instant. I've lost count of the number of times Harry's scored a goal out of nowhere, and he's not the only one we've got who can do that.

But aside form that, yes, Bale's a winner and could have a fantastic effect on the club both on and off the pitch, and knowing something about his professionalism from his time with us, there's not really that much risk involved compared with many other top-class players.

Just like training and playin with Ronaldo has made Bale a better player the effect of Kane Eriksen Son and Lamela training with Bale can’t be underestimated plus he has winning mentality and medals

As much as I'd like to see Bale return this summer, I find the notion that some would be happy if he was our only signing a little bizarre.

Yes he's a match winner, but he's a match winner in a very good team.

If we can't move the ball forward quicker from back to attack we'll still struggle as defences would've had time to regroup, leaving same problems as this season at times.

Bale would be a luxury, and no doubt add quality, but I still believe we need damn fine quality in CM first and foremost

Bale cannot be the answer alone, but he is sure more than welcome in addition to areas that need properly addressing first.

I'd be well chuffed with Savic, de Ligt and Martial.

Bale alone...nope

Is the huge increase in pages to this thread over the last 48 hours anything to do with some new link or piece of ITK, or is it just because of his goal yesterday?

I see Man United is mentioned as our biggest rival for Bale’s signature, but wouldn’t they rather go for Cristiano?
