If Bale were as lazy as some of the knee-jerk opinions in the thread then we really would be in trouble...

Don't know where people get this lazy stuff from. He covered a huge amount of ground Saturday. I personally just thought it wasn't very constructive, which comes from the coaching!

He like most are very much confidence players and 20odd thousand people groaning when he tries a shot that goes over the bar probably doesn't help. Much rather he keeps taking a pop rather than becoming scared not to

Not too concerned about his current form. Bale is on a steep learning curve, he had to learn how to play with being doubled up ou to n the left, he did that.

Gary Speed then started using him RWF he started off slowly there but was soon making great chances there and scoring goals, now he is being given this fairly pivotal role which atm he seems to have a poor understanding of.

He is not getting into great positions where he can use his best attributes, and is occasionally getting in the way of VDV/Modric/Ade/Azza.

I'm sure he thinks about his game and positions he can get into and what he can do in them and i'm sure he will learn this position better with help of those around him who better know how to influence play.
just a case of how long it will take...

I don't think he is lazy at all. He could improve the defensive side of his game, for sure, but if you looked at the stats for miles covered by every player in the PL at the end of the season, I am sure he will be up there.

His pass from the right back position on Saturday was a great ball. I think his passing is coming on a fair bit this season. It was only a few weeks ago he beat Norwich 2-0!

The one thing I dislike from him is his free kicks, he doesn't seem to hit the target anymore and if he does its too straight. What happened to him? He used to be amazing at free kicks!

We need to coach our wingers a bit more, it seems the fullback gets the ball just inside the opposition half and us who site down the line are screaming for Bale to get forward into the gap to create the space for the fullback to pass into. You can see Benny looking for it to, but Bale just sits 3 yards from him...it's driving me insane.

Second thing, Bale should stay on the left more, he may get double or tripled up on, but then that leaves more space for Modric, VdV etc to do their thing...there is no I in team

I have a hunch that Redknapp stopped him spending as much time on freekicks as he did as a youngster and told him to concentrate on improving his all round game. I think this part of the coaches trying to toughen him up and make him grow up a bit. He needs to start spending extra time after training on them again though, he was deadly at Southampton.

After training, both him and VDV should be there, of their own accord, firing in freekicks from all positions though.

Tell Kaboul to step the fuck away from every taking a free kick again though.

I'm absolutely delighted he is drifting, I've thought that he needs to add more to his game and improve all round. However, he is not Messi or Ronaldo. Nowhere near, either in terms of all round ability or goals/assists racked up. So he still needs to spend a bit more time on the left where is still best, getting past defenders and whipping in great balls.

Nah, Benny should be standing just behind the freekick taker, ready to smash them in Liverpool style!

So after one game where we drew we now want Bale to be shackled to his left wing position? jeez! I despair sometimes.

Who says he should be 'shackled'? For his own good and more importantly for the good of the team, we sometimes need an option of width from the team. Our best option of width comes from the left and Bale. He's probably the best crosser at the club.

As I said, I love it when he mixes it up. But he is, first and foremost a winger. he needs to spend some time there, stretching the other team and providing crosses. He, and we, become a bit more predictable when he spends all his time in the centre.

No, I feel we struggled against WBA and, to a certain extent, Everton as well, but as we won not much was made of it. IMO, Bale should be playing on the wings. That is his best position: quick, strong, good crosser.

His passing and decision making is just not good enough (yet) to be playing in a central position, and is clogging up the space of Modric and Rafa.

Don't get me wrong, we are in an amazing position...but that's not to say we can't do even better!

Im happy with his overall offensive performance. Still takes on his man and effective when given the ball in the final 3rd.

I think the answer to us scoring less goals recently is VdV. He's still our best and most dangerous player but is scoring less goals cuz he's doing too much.

Bale is a left winger who is totally one footed.

Our pub team's manager would know that makes it a fairly good idea to play him left wing. Not Harry.

Why the fuck was Bale hardly on the left all game! FFS moving him over was the least we should have done.
