2 average games and a knee-jerk reaction, okay he wasn't great against Stevenage but neither were the rest of our team. I do think he sometimes gets caught out sometimes for doing the same trick, either way lets hope we have an in form Bale vs the scum.

There's a world class talent at Spurs and you're finding a way to moan about him? Every team in the world would take Bale, celebrate the fact he is at Spurs. Or would you rather go back to the days of Malbranque? (No offense intended to Steed, just an example to shot the difference in class over recent years)

I believe he wasn't at his best in the Stevenage game, that could have been any one of a hundred reasons. I think he is pretty grounded but if he does get a bit more confidence isn't that a good thing, down to the manager to keep him in check isn't it?

Could also be that he was tried in a slightly different position and we may be trying to use him more centrally.
A small pitch where the ball was difficult to control wouldn't have played to his strengths.

Bale is a fantastic player.... BUT, isn't it the case that he's not as good as some non spurs fans believe? I mean the football fans who see his highlights on motd etc. and don't scrutinise every minute like we do.

Since he has been given license to roam he makes too many sloppy passes or gets tackled. He rarely has the room to run at players in more central positions, so he's not playing to his strenghts. Its clear he wants to improve other aspects of his game and i'm sure he's trying to emulate modric and VDV in central positions.

I don't think he's lazy or that he his attitude has changed. He's trying to improve his game and he has some of the best around him to learn from. He is still quite far away from where he wants to be though IMO.

You never know how he has been told to play, stay forward etc.

Personally I prefer to see him on the wing over this free role he has had recently. I know it's easier to double up on him out wide. The up side to this is, it's one less defender when Bale has two on him.

Some of our so called 'fans', just don't deserve to have world class players of Bales' calibre in their favourite team. 'They' only deserve crap players who would keep us in mid-table comfort !

Bale should be considered as a treasured privilage to have and to grace our team.He is the kind of player who is the envy of all the top teams, not only
in England but also around the world.

That is just what I think.

I am from his neck of the woods and I can say with absolute confidence that he would never think like the OP suggests. Great honest lad, hard working and loves it at Spurs. The boy is almost world class and will win many a match for us.

Bale is the only player in our team that scares the opposition, makes them change tactics just to make him less of a threat. Bale has got a great attitude IMO but getting rinsed by the oppo fans every touch might have got to him though.

Disgraceful dive :bang: have you ever played football? he anticipated a challenge and went down almost avoiding it...how any spurs fan can call one of our best players disgraceful is beyond me.

How's your prawn sarnie by the way?

Totally right. A sly kick at an opposing player, and that's what wound Bale up so much. Clearly visible from the second camera angle, though not the main one. Yes he jumped out of the way of it, and rightly so.

No it's not just you. My girlfriend started watching spurs regularly just after we met last year, just after the AC home leg (she's a big handegg fan in the states) and she's been really getting into it.

She said, during the stevenage game, that Bale has started to seem a little arrogant and thinking that he's the dogs bollocks.

I actually agree with her. His attitude has shifted, and this can be demonstrated by his quite frankly disgraceful dives (see liverpool - only player in the prem to be called on twice by a referee for diving).

However, this shift may not necessarily be for the worse. I like the idea of a player who thinks he's incredible, provided he has the talent to back it.

In conclusion, you're not the only one mate.

Well if your girlfriend noticed it must be true...Eek :)

He's a very modest lad who rarely takes compliments. You only have to watch and listen to his interviews

I have noticed he's got a bit more feisty on the pitch lately which is a good thing. He needs a bit of fire in his belly

Some players back up their arrogance with class, Ronaldo, Henry and Imbrahimovic, but Bale will never be an arrogant player

I don't agree with the OP as such but I wish Bale would work a bit harder for the cause and not just cruise around.

Look Bale is a wonderful player and hopefully he will stay for many a year and we are privileged to have him here but if he is to be the next Giggs, he needs to improve his work rate.

Offensively he can be outstanding, defensively he needs to apply himself much better. He relinquishes possession too easy sometimes and shrugs and passes on his responsibility to others.

His unwillingness to track back and press meaningfully is fucking annoying but he has improved his team play and does get involved in games much more than last season.

This has been his best season in many ways, but he must work on the defensive side of his game, because despite being bloody good offensively, he isn't good enough to get away with doing some of the half arsed things he does defensively.
