Pringle's post was on topic.

And its all good for you to tell him to put you on ignore, but why dont you do the same?

thank you

If your not willing to ignore each others posts either on your own or by the ignore function then action will be taken as im sure im not the only one sick of you two having a go at each other.

Dont think that is a fair comment though. I respond to the post not the poster unlike some clowns - you said yourself my post was on topic, and i made no reference to who made the comment. The guy is clearly clueless as is repeatedly shown and i have intentionally ensured my comments are about the post concerned rather than being drawn into an argument which is what he wants. I even reported his ridiculous post (which you agreed with me on) to make this point.

I will continue to reply to posts, no matter who they are by - and will continue to ignore his attempts at disrupting threads, i hope the mods are keeping an eye on it though as it is becoming far to frequent in a number of threads.

Anyway, moving on ........

It's also worth noted that both of those games, Gio was played out of position. He's not a right winger. He's never been a right winger. Having a poor game in a position you aren't suited to shouldn't be held against you. Kranjcar, Modric and Van der Vaart have all had very poor games when deployed on the right wing, but we don't write them off as players because that is not the position they play.

We now have the players to play a 4-2-3-1 system effectively, which is what we should do. Giovani is well suited for any of the positions in the attacking 3. And with Lennon and Van der Vaart injured as well as Modric being a dick, now should be an ideal time to give Gio a few games in his favoured position.

Legacy - not quite sure what you mean when you write that Gio is "not a right winger".

At Barca he played primarily as the understudy to Messi, cutting in the from the right flank onto his left foot. So, he's not a right winger in the traditional sense of hugging the right touchline to cross with his right foot - I agree. However, on several occasions I've posted footage here at SC of him playing on the left flank, getting to the byline, and crossing with his strong left foot.

If you mean that Gio is primarily a pass-and-move footballer who can play anywhere in the front 3 in a 4-2-3-1, then I agree with you.

well GDS is on the bench, so the myth that Harry hates him has been blown out of the water. Could have given that spot to anyone else but gave it to GDS - hopefully he has shown something positive in training to push himself above some of the others.

Played around 6 mins today. I think that will be the first of many appearances for Gio this season. Hopefully the rest of them will be longer.

GIO, GIO, GIO!!

i think when everyone is fit, he wont be anywhere near the bench

Lennon and VDV who he is competing with will come in ahead of him and the likes of Hudd, Sandro, Corluka, Gallas, Pienaar, Rose will also be picked on the bench ahead of him imo. That is unless he really gets his head down in training and impresses - only a few mins today, but he got on ahead of others which shows Harry is willing to give him a go

His only contribution was an overweighted pass in their half which directly lead to pressure on our goal.

I think the 6 minutes was an olive branch and Harry basically saying now buckle down.

100% agree. Let me know when GDS shows that he has this (preferably against a decent opponent not Murcia on the last game of the season, against Haiti in the Gold Cup or in the Championship for Ipswich.

How about against the USA, the team that England couldn't beat in the WC ?

Glad to see him have some game time

Nobody can write him off because he's never had a run in the team.

what a ridiculous reply - does that mean the Wrexham side that beat Arsenal were amazing as well? 1 game doesnt make a team and lets be honest USA aint a world beating team!

If GDS was anywhere near as good as you would love to believe, at least 1 of these would have happened

1 - Barca would have sold him for big bucks as a hugely talented player
2 - he would have performed well for us
3 - a big club would have come in for him this summer
4 - he would have performed well in a big comp for his country

none of the above has happened. All he has EVER done is perform in weaker leagues and comps against weak opposition. Those are the facts and that is undeniable.

This is the type of comment i just dont get - he hasnt had a run because he hasnt deserved it based on his training/attitude or whatever it may be! Its like me claiming i am the next messi but i aint the chance. I know i cant make it into my sunday team, and i know im 6 stone overweight but im telling you all now, that if Spurs gave me a chance id prove that im the best player since Maradona - its just that they wont give me a chance...............

I agree with you, but he was pretty good in the World Cup (unless I'm remembering it wrong).

You're not. He finished runner up to Thomas Mueller for young player of the tournament. I'd also class Sevilla and Udinese as big clubs.

Scored a massive 0 goals and got an amazing 0 assists though but this seems to have been forgotten as he was voted 2nd best young player in the tournament. An award based over 4 games when he contributed nothing to any goal seems to be a pretty lame way of promoting the guy, but then if im honest - he hasnt done anything else so people need this to hang on to!

why didnt udinese and seville buy him then? he was available, wanted to move and was cheap but no1 was willing to take the risk. Those are the cold hard facts of the situation - Seville and Udinese (according to ITK were interested and the odd rumour column) didnt want to take the risk on him though which says SO SO SO much.

Guys, this is a ridiculous debate

No one can say either way

Harry should give him a proper run to see what he can do
