Go and watch the first two games and tell me if Lennon should start next game ?

First half GDS, Carroll, Livermore and Falque all combined well. Showed for the ball, passed, moved and dribbled and helped us control the game.

None of them looked so good second half, and they all made poor choices at times in the final third. Even in the second half GDS played a lovely ball out to the wide right about 72 min, and was still showing up for the ball.

We are talking about a young player who's had about 7 starts, and barely any of those have been amongst regular first team and a regular game. Shaktar home and away three years ago with another mixed side. Doncaster cup mixed bunch, Arsenal cup with more kids and reserves. Now tonight away in Greece with kids and reserves.

But put one of them into the first team, or bring them on in a game with Modric, VDV, Adebayor, Bale, Parker etc, and they might just have a slightly easier time.

No one is saying he has justified a start for the first team, especially with what we have now in our squad, but I've seen Lennon and Krnajcar and Bale all turn in performances worse than that in easier games, and often.

Bold: Mainly due to the fact it was like 30+ degrees, humid and they was probably shattered.

I also agree with the rest of post. I saw GDS do some great touches and passes in the second half and had some good vision too.

Surely they must have fallen out ages ago hence being shipped out on loan and not getting any playing time?

As for his performance last night, ok first half disappointing 2nd.

As others has said it's clear his confidence is low and he's probably disappointed to still be with us but he needs to pick his head up and focus. I know playing left midfield in a 4-4-2 is not his preferred position but he does need to try and stand out when he does get his chances or Harry just won't play him.

I think that yesterday Giovani, Pav, Bassong all looked pretty demotivated to be there. The other youngsters were just happy to be given a chance. Pav was a lot worse than Giovani imo. I think with more game time in a more experienced team he would fit in well but it's just unlikely he will get that chance.

2 weeks? Think you'll find him on the pitch in 5 days vs Stoke in the CC.
Does he deserve it? probably not on tonights performance but he'll play because he has it in him to be a match winner and one hopes it will come out in one of these games.

I could ask if Bale deserves to play on Sunday after his last 3 performances? I think its a valid question and my answer is the same, probably not but we know he has it in him and hope it will come out.

Yes because Bale has delivered before, took his chance when he was given it and shows in training he is worth it.

Compare that with Gio who could have stood out on Thursday if he was good enough.

Falque looked on a par with him quite frankly.

MoTM I would say. Hopefully it wasn't just about weak opposition but also about him starting to pick up pace. Hope to see him get some more chances.

Sums up my thoughts. Just hope it isnt like the Taarabt scenario - decent against pants sides and poor against decent ones.
