When Siggy is quoted at £50m you know the market has reached peak idiocy.

Chelsea announcement of rudiger is super cringy

I swear that's the kind of shit half the posters in our new kit thread were hoping for us to do though.

Hardly a signing to set the pulses racing and merit this though is he? That's likely the only shirt they'll print his name on this season other than his own...

That's a price to scare off interested clubs.
Weird tactic. He hasn't been THAT good for them. What, 7 goals last season playing virtually up front every game? I'd take the money.

Sounds crazy but 40 mill odd for his talen is the going rate this summer. I wonder what 20 mill would actually buy you this year?

It's bugged me a little over the years when people have called Wayne Rooney stupid (at least, more stupid than your average footballer). I just don't think it's true. People confuse inarticulacy with stupidity. Rooney isn't particularly articulate - he's fine, just it's not one of his strengths - but that doesn't mean he's stupid. Neither does being articulate mean you're smart. Sol Campbell is articulate and I'm convinced he's as dumb as a bag of spoons. Prince Andrew is the same. Speaks well, dumber than a fucking hedge.

In this regard, Rooney could actually end up being a good manager one day. Fergie was incomprehensible a lot of the time to the point of inarticulacy, but what he had was a footballing intelligence and an authenticity that footballers can detect like a dog whistle. Rooney seems to me could have both as well. Add in what a legend he'll be to young players in 10 years, and there it is.

think there was a documentary on tv a few years back that showed exactly this. Yes, he's as sharp as a rubber dong off the pitch but it stated that on the pitch, his 'football brain' was so sharp it was ahead of 95% of the people he played with/against. Hence always being in the right place, playing the right pass, making the right decision, etc was down to this and being pretty 'stupid and ordinary' off the pitch was irrelevant as on it he was razor sharp.
