Not when they know that Everton will probably pay higher than that.

I don't think Everton will go near that figure. £40m is a real push. Paying another £10m - it's a figure devised to stop the bidding imo.

Siggy's importance to Swansea is serious; but if his importance / influence leaving the dressing room causes a hitch (which then could lead to other, offsettable hitches) relegation looms again. Plausibly.

And as we all know, relegation is a catastrophe that mega wage paying clubs just cannot gamble with.

He's a tidy player, but Toffees must have a dire scouting dept if they can't find a similar prospect elsewhere for less than half those figures.

Why, how easy will it be Swansea to replace the 22 goals/assists that Sigurdsson brings ? He's probably the reason they are not in the Championship now.

In terms of his value I think it's not unreasonable, only three AM's in the PL last season exceeded his combined tally, DeBruyne, Eriksen and Alli.

I think Sigurdsson could do better than Swansea, but I'm not sure they can do better than him. I also think there's plenty of better teams where he won't get the freedom or tactical indulgence he gets there, Koeman/Everton being a good example of that, but if he does move then by the type of standard that see carthorses like Sissoko worth 30m then it's hard to argue with the valuation Swansea are putting on him.

think there was a documentary on tv a few years back that showed exactly this. Yes, he's as sharp as a rubber dong off the pitch but it stated that on the pitch, his 'football brain' was so sharp it was ahead of 95% of the people he played with/against. Hence always being in the right place, playing the right pass, making the right decision, etc was down to this and being pretty 'stupid and ordinary' off the pitch was irrelevant as on it he was razor sharp.

I agree on that, his positional play and movement, up until he tailed off, was practically second to none in the entire league

They could buy some decent defenders with the cash and a striker. He's not worth anything like that amount of money.

He's reached 15 league goals 4 times in his 15 professional seasons

His goalscoring ratios for each season are still generally excellent, though. He just always seems to miss a decent chunk of games every season.

He's only played over 30 league games five times in those 15 seasons, and in those five seasons he scored over 15 league goals in four of them, including two seasons when he scored 26 and 27.

If he can stay fit and play regularly he could probably still do a job for Everton.

  • Manchester United demand £30m for Anthony Martial following Roma contact.

We should be all over this if true

would that mean Douglas Costa is definitely going? he probably was anyway, but it will move faster now. Probably Juve if they've sorted that non-EU thing.

That's a very expensive loan, I suppose after two years they have to buy him outright?

The Lukaku & Pogba Show coming out of LA is a rather undignified and sloppy performance.

Not happy about Rodriguez going to Bayern, as it increases the chances of Sanchez staying at Arsenal, even if only to see out the final year of his deal. If they have Lacazette and Sanchez in the same side for next season they'll be very dangerous indeed.
