Have you watched Liverpool attempt to manage their way through a game? They can't do it. It's absolutely baffling but they still shit the bed every time they are ahead and the ball comes in their box. That comes from the coach not actually working on the defensive side of the game. Klopp only cares about attacking. A defender and goalkeeper isn't going to change his tactics. It might make it easier for him to attack but I'm not overly concerned unless they show signs that they can manage their way through a game like we've shown this season.

Well their defense has improved over the last 2 seasons from 50 goals conceded to 38 (only 2 more than us), so I would say that your claim that Klopp doesn't care about defending isn't backed up by the actual evidence. I think when he came in he probably took a look at his team and decided to prioritize attacking (their goals scored has improved from 63 to 84), which probably wasn't a bad idea since they've managed to win a lot of games by outscoring their opponents (a valid strategy), and since Klopp is probably a better attacking coach than defending coach. They scored 84 goals in the league and made it to the CL final with really only a front 3 that is noteworthy at all.

If they sign Fabinho and Fekir, they're going to have a front 6 that is possibly the best in the league imo. If they also improve their defense marginally (with a goalkeeper let's say), they'll probably challenge City for the title imo.

Look, you know what I mean. Our defence is about 10 times better than Liverpool's. If you think it's not skewed by the fact we conceded 4 v Leicester in the final game and 3 v City with 5 games to go or whatever it was then I don't know what to say to you.
You could just as easily argue that Liverpool's is skewed by conceding 4 to City and 4 to us.

If the players they sign are as good as people say, (they probably wont be), then they'll have a very good team next year. I doubt they'll leave us behind though and it'll probably come down to 3-4 points one way or another unless one of us has a stinker.

Crazy that my first thoughts on that £40m fee is that it was reasonable. Shows how crazy the market is.

4 to City and 4 to us was absolutely normal for their defence at the time though. It wasn't unusual to see them defend so poorly. It is unusual for us though, no matter how bad our form is.

Look lads, I'm not saying Liverpool haven't improved. Im saying i dont understand how anyone can say they are leaving us behind when we are obviously going to move in the market to improve our own areas of weakness. Make judgement at the end of the window

Yeah not panicking or anything, just saying that going from a midfield of Henderson, Milner and Wijnaldum to Keita, Fabinho and Fekir is a huge upgrade. We'll need to sign one or two top class players to be at the same level.

I’m sure I was reading earlier that agents wouldn’t be negotiating deals for their players if they’re going to the World Cup. Looks like that only stops us.

Again, a brand new midfield three isn't going to gel straight away unless they've all moved from the same team or Liverpool strike gold like they did with Salah

Let's be honest, any player at the WC is unlikely to be 'released' by the national team to go and have medicals etc.

I'd say it's pretty nailed on that anyone going to the WC is unlikely to move until they're back from it, or their team is out

They aren't leaving us behind. They are catching us up though.

It's why this window is the most important window we've ever had.

well great players tend to figure each other out pretty quickly plus they're making signings early which means they'll have a pre-season together, unlike what we usually do.

Pretty massive that Liverpool have wrapped Fabinho up so quickly after Utd and others failed in the past after long chases.

Him and Keita improve their midfield drastically, whilst keeping the mobility required.

Have to say FSG seem to be superb owners especially on the transfer side. No nonsense. Trust their scouting and get the deal done. Herc says we are closing in on finanicial parity with pool but I doubt we'd ever get that clinical in the transfer market. They do everything they can to give the manager the best tools and plenty of time to work with them.

I hate Liverpool so that's not easy to say.

No there isn't but I just find the complacency baffling. Just because we've finished above them 3 times in a row it doesn't mean we are going to do it again. We will get left behind if we don't get it right this window.

As i've said, if they get a decent keeper and a centre half on top of what they're currently doing, what are their weaknesses?

They are pretty knackered if Firmino got injured.

Moreno is a bit of a liability at LB backup although Milner has deputised there before.

Agree on your overall post though.
