Why are Brentford helping Arsenal out? Have I missed something?
I think the common thought is Brentford thought there'd be more of a bidding war for Raya, which is why they 'stuck' to their 40m price tag with us.

But then no-one else came in and we went for Vicario.

Bayern came in but didn't wanna pay 40m and essentially no-one got close to their price at all. And with Brentford already signing Raya's replacement they'd kinda played themselves.

So Arsenal have come in and taken advantage. Think it works out to a 3mil loan with an option to buy for 27mil next season so 30mil in total, so Brentford get some money from deffo not their best bit of business.

Raya to Arsenal on loan with 1 year on his contract seems crazy from Brentford, or am I missing something here?

Gives excellent depth there for Arsenal now, but I do see him sitting on the bench most of the season.
Must admit I don't get it from Raya's perspective. Going from Brentford and a guaranteed premier league number 1 spot, surely his next move would have to be a guaranteed number 1 spot somewhere else? Even if Arsenal are a 'good' club and Europe and everything... and even if I think overall he's better than Ramsdale... he's not gonna be playing that much this season which feels like a really odd choice (especially given the Euro's are in the summer so his Spain slot is under threat).

Is that last bit confirmed? BBC says they have an "option" and Romano put £3m plus £2m - guessing that must be a typo though?!

Sky reporting the 27mil option.

Raya signed a new 2 year deal with Brentford, so if the loan doesn't work out for whatever reason Brentford are back in the same position next year, where he has 1 year left on his deal and they can still make some money off him.

That makes more sense. Not so much for him though. 🤷🏼‍♂️

How are Chelsea doing all these signings? FFP? Load of bollocks

Simon Jordan explained it extensively. The trick has been the long contracts and they have sold a lot of players which come off the balance sheets now. so they wont have done much BUT as each year goes on, the less business they can really do and will have to keep paying off. Basically they are banking on this batch of young signings been successes otherwise they are in the mud.

Although this one is slightly different as they will have to pay the £35m in one go.

Asked earlier but no-one seems to know just how big is Chelseas First Team squad now ? Plus two more signings apparently in the works. They are just sticking two fingers up at everyone else.

Think it’ll be at 35 once Lavia and Olise join.

One fewer than ours :cautious:

Edit: think ours stands at 35 — now that big HK has left

Chelsea signing Olise is even more annoying when you consider they’ve already got Madueke who 1. Should still be at Spurs and 2. Would be perfect as an Ange style winger. It’s actually very annoying that we didn’t sell Kane sooner because another one that would have been perfect in Mousa Diaby could have been targeted

So this will take Chelsea’s spending to 900m over 3 windows? How the fuck is that possible? FFP is an absolute shit show! We should be all over that for £35m too!

We should put in an offer for Madueke
