He's being brought in as a replacement to Negredo.

Remember Negredo played in 48 matches (30+ in PL) last season. Pelligrini likes using 2 strikers when everyone is healthy so plenty of room for for him to play.
They've got Dzeko and Jovetic. Too much competition.

Saw this posted by a CFC supporter:

  1. Messi's wife and Cesc's wife are best friends and Cesc's wife said she didn't know how she would live without Messi's.
  2. He just followed Jose's daughter
  3. My resources in spain tell me he is coming
:inpain:

But a great comment by a self aware CFC supporter on Reddit about the story:

This guy has to be a comedian. His resources in Spain?? His gossip about the wives??

City have absolutely no need for Bony unless they are planning on offloading two of either Negredo, Jovetic or Dzeko in the near future. They have already been fined under FFP rules so they would have to recoup a lot of Bony's asking fee and this purchase doesn't exactly guarantee City the Title either.

Bony has an age advantage, has scored the most goals for the calender year in the EPL (20) in a vastly inferior side, and can offer a different aspect to the City attack along with Aguero I just don't see why they feel the need to do so when Jovetic and Dzeko aren't exactly chopped liver.

They could easily match the 20+ goals between the two of them so why go out and spend 30 odd million quid? Makes no sense to me. A true Left field signing with a hidden agenda if you ask me. :cautious:

Hidden Agenda meaning there is no logical, straight forward reason for wanting Bony, there must be a reason we don't know about.
Well there is. They have money to burn. That's all the logic there needs to be. They get a spare player who they will be able to use well when they need him, but he'll never get ahead of Aguero and one bad performance and he could get dropped for Dzeko or Jovetic. Plus City do not always use 2 strikers. Bad move.

One leads to the other surely.
Well it depends how you define "successful" and when a player can be seen to have brought a club "success." A spare, fourth striker is always a good thing to have. You bring them on when you need them and they fill a void. Yeah that could be seen to be successful for the club. But that player might not consider it to be a successful move for them. So no, of course one does not always lead to the other.

They buy him to make sure that someone else doesn't perhaps?

Since everyone interested, and even Swansea themselves, are fighting for a top four place.

Exactly. Clubs aren't in this to improve footballers careers. Seriously, I honestly think that some players think, "Oh well, if the club wants me then that means they are keen to help me develop in my career and they will make sure I get played lots." Stupid bastards some players.

I liked his "I want to play in the Champions League" comment yesterday.
Congratulations Wilfried - you'll get 2 matches this season (although as Swansea were in EL so he may be inelligible) and then you may get a game or two next season when Aguero and others are injured.

some players just never learn from the mistakes of others before them. A City related example is Scott Sinclair. An absolute nightmare. That should be starring Bony in the face.

Lewis Baker goes on loan to Sheffield Wednesday from Chelsea...

Chelsea's 34th outgoing loan deal of the season.....34....34 players out on loan

That is the thing that needs to be controlled....

Maybe Aguero won't big at Man city next season and they are getting bony in to settle now?? Man city are a massive club but maybe he has said he wants out next year? No one knows what maybe happening behind the scenes. What if Ronaldo to United, Aguero to Madrid and Bony to City?

MASSIVE news leaking at the moment regarding Frank Lampard.....

Apparently the PL have commented that his contract is exclusively with Man City and that there was no paperwork signed taking him to New York City FC!!!
