But if Asensio was available, Poch would definintely be in for him even at that price, because he'll likely be worth double that in a season's time, and we have so much more to offer an ambitious young player than the motley goons.

In truth though, every top club in Europe would be after Asensio, so perhaps it's an agent ploy to get him a more lucrative contact with Real inserting a ridiculous release clause.

What I'm referring to though is that the goons are making bids on players they are fully aware they haven't a cat in hell's chance of getting, just so they can kid their own fans that they're showing the ambition to get the biggest new names in.
It's very easy to bid £100 million plus when you know you're not actually going to spend it.

If they sell Coutinho for 100m plus, Monaco will be wanting at least 80m plus for Lemar and i'm sure he will have many other big clubs to choose from. Also with Monaco likely to sell Mbappe can they really afford to lose anymore players. If he goes and for the 55m i will be so surprised.

According to a SCBC poster on another forum there's a clause in his contract saying that Southampton can't sell him until next year.

There was a report late last week how Van Dijk fired his manager because the contract he signed with Soton has an agreement that says he doesn't have to be sold for 2 seasons.

If that is actually the case i could see Soton holding him just like they did with Schneiderlin.
