Oxlade-Chamberlain could be a tidy signing for Villa if he stays fit, but that's a big if.

Note the discussion with the investment fund not the clubs :sneaky:

Similar to when I was reading the initial reports about Benzema to Saudi.

Saudi are so keen to recruit high profile players that it is the country fronting up the money, and the players can choose which club they fancy.

Four clubs in one league controlled by an investment firm ? I assume they will dictate which of those clubs finishes the highest ? Surely it can't be legit.
It wouldn't fly in UEFA competitions but they're not going to play in them anyway. No idea what the Asian equivalent rules are.

There are FIFA rulings regarding state interference in domestic football but the only sanction they could put on them is banning the international side from World Cups and their qualifiers. They can't tell them to change the way they operate in the domestic league.

I do wonder how they see this as helping the Saudi nation though. Sportswashing in the already popular leagues gets them legitimacy and people willing to stick up for them.

What does this current thing get them besides vanity?

I sort of get it with Ronaldo, who has a rabid fanbase that'll follow him anywhere, and maybe Benzema given he's the Ballon d'Or holder, but mystifies me when it comes to Aubameyang.

Mbappe could be on the move this summer. Real bound?

Minteh. Fresh new signing for Newcastle, who'll be brushing up on his skills at Feyenoord before getting his teeth into the Premier League the season after.

Do the owners have a stake in Feyenoord? That seems like extremely well thought out forward planning otherwise, right? 🤔

It's a crazy amount of money. He's a good player, but not worth this amount. Imo

He's one of the best-holding midfielders in Europe, only 24, and a leader.

Worth every penny IMO.

Rice, Odegaard, and Caicedo will be a scary midfield if they manage to sign him too.

whoever they sign they're building on a position of strength, something we had more than enough chances to do. no surprise we're the only club that fails to recognize this.

we certainly have never built on strength in the past under this baord, weak mentality. I hope Scott Munn can work miracles in time and create a new culture.
