Milanese newspaper, Libertà, has today stated that Tottenham Hotspur manager, Juande Ramos, is strongly considering a move for A.C. Milan's holding midfielder, Gennaro Gattuso.

Spurs have had their scouts watch the midfielder on more than one occasion in the last 40 days according to the paper.

Ringhio, as he is called by his teammates, has stated that he wants to see out his career at the Milan club. However, after a lacklustre season, the Rossoneri are said to be looking at letting a few of their older players leave this summer, with Gattuso's name amongst the list of players that are set to depart.

Gattuso is contracted till the 2010/2011 season and it is believed that Milan will listen to offers in the region of €10 million (approximately £8 million).

This news has alerted Spurs, as well as Bayern Munich. Bayern are believed to have offered Gattuso a massive contract, although sources close to the player have stated that if he were to leave Serie A, he would prefer a move to the Premiership, and especially London.

Tottenham's capture of Luka Modric has proved to be quite significant on the continent. The move has shown that Spurs have the ambition and the funds needed to compete at the highest level.

Ramos is a fan of Gattuso and also understands the need for the club to buy a defensive midfielder. Spurs leaked too many goals for the Spaniards liking this season and may look to the Italian powerful ball-winning midfielder as a solution

Just what we need:pray::pray::pray:

Who? Oh, Gattuso. Yeah, I've wanted him to play for us probably more than any other player in the world for the past several years.

Would be great, but there seems to be no actual substance to this article either. No quotes or real inofrmation at all.

Oh can we not have the whole Zokora/Zakora situation all over again. Its Gattuso.

Gattuso

Yes please. Even if he's on the way down he could have a Davids-like effect on the team on and off the pitch, bringing experience in and mentoring the younger players.

What are the Italian press like for reliability when it comes to this sort of thing IOMLS?

I'd LOVE IT if we signed Gattuso!

In general they seem about as reliable as the British press. I'm fairly sure there is some truth in the Bayern rumours on this though. I read in La Gazzetta yesterday some direct quotes from Beckenbauer saying that Gattuso was the perfect player and they would love him at Bayern (high praise indeed from one of the greatest players of all time).

I've not seen anything directly in connection with us, so for now I will assume it is just a rumour.

Even though Gattuso is older, I feel we have more chance of getting Eto'o!

no way can i see this happening. gattuso's agent has just come out and said in the wake of flamini's signing that gattuso has no intention of being forced out and wants to fulfill his contract with milan before moving on.

Agree. I can't see it happening either but would be an excellent signing for us if it did. His leadership and ball-winning ability in the midfield would be a god send for us!!

Gattuso and Veloso in central midfield would be awsome. Gattuso could pass on all his knowledge to his young padawan Veloso!

I don't care if it makes for dull football, i'd play him on the right, not in the middle.

I'm assuming you mean in a 442? Why would you play him on the right and not in the centre protecting our back 4? You think he doesn't have the legs for it any more?
