Getting worried?

Is anyone getting a little worried by the lack of signings? I know that we need to take our time and it's important to get the right signings. Yes, yes, I know that we usually leave it til the last minute (second sometimes!) and I'm a patient sort of chap and all that.

But... it's less than a month til the season starts and we've got nobody! Will this mad rush of selling and buying start soon? Are we going to get ANY of the players we're linked with and are they going to have enough time to settle before the big kick-off?

Reassure me please!

We showed after the January window what we are about. Our results were very positive, and we were a solid unit. We only lost to a couple of teams after Christmas. We don't need too many additions. Maybe only a few to strengthen the depth of the squad.

At the moment we only need a CM to replace Didi, hardly panic stations is it.

I agree with your and the poster above my previous comment in as far as we really don't require whole sale changes.

A tweek here and there to add some quailty to the squad and maybe a couple of fillers to keep the depth strong.

I think we will need to bring someone in upfront to balance out our options more, I fear we will struggle without a striker who can hold the ball up and link play. (although I would love for Pav to develop into that player)

Other than that an upgrade here or there could be useful but not really essential. I really don't want the squad to become unsettled again and go into the season fresh to one another.

our current squad is good, 1/2 additions would be nice, but overall i reaaly think we're fine as we are.

so, to answer your initial question, NO, not in the slightest.

We've only lost Zokora so far, and he'd been replaced as a first team player by Palacios. When we start losing players without any sign of quality replacements then I might start to worry.

i still think if we are to try an make a success of next season we must have a big strong striker who is good in the air and can link up play if we don't get one then i think we will struggle for goals as zokora has left we may need to sign another utility man and perhaps we could sign a left winger to give us another option to modric but also to give us the chance to see how modric and palacios link in the middle of the park.

From another point of view though very few of our more established first team players are being linked away so there is very little need for a large influx of new players. Id be happy with just a center back for the time being.

rather unusual for us to be so quiet in a window. I actually welcome our dealings thus far. i want quality and not some super star signing. a replacement for Didier maybe. i would give Hudd and O'hara till Jan to stake a real claim and move them on by then if they have not progressed.

I'm more than happy with things left as they are. After all this is a squad that would have finished 5th if the season had started when Harry took over. In fact our main problems were against weaker teams which, IMO, was more complacency than anything else.

I would be delighted if we got the Ashley Young deal and then left it at thatas I think LW is the only position we are really lacking (even then we have Modders and Bale who can cover LW adequately)

I definitely want a striker. I don't think Bent can play as a target man or hold the ball up, which I believe is the type of striker best suited to playing with Defoe or Keane. And I have no faith in Pav. I'm coming around to the idea of Crouch. I've never been a big fan of his, but I think a half decent target man, is better than simply not having one. For example, I think Defoe would score 20 goals if he played with Crouch next season.

we would've purchased Santa Cruz and Barry if Man City weren't around.

They're making it hard for us. Bastards!

Don't worry, be Happy.

Why must we sign a dozen players every season? I think this season we have more positions ticked than any over the last five years. Keeper? - check. Right back - check. Left back - check, centre backs - check etc etc etc. While one or two players could be improved upon, they are very good players and the cost and availability of the better players makes it very difficult to buy them.

The two areas/types of players that we dont have is a left footed left winger (even then Bale could be considered an option, and we have plenty of youth players in that position) and a big, tall, strong target man (and maybe Pav will become this player, who knows)

We arent the top team in the world so we cant attract the top top players, and we dont have Man City cash for mercenaries. What we can do is be patient, bring through and develop our exisiting players, and forge a team spirit that surpasses any other club.

Not particularly worried but a lot of our players are linked with moves away. It is a realistic possibility that King, Huddlestone, Jenas, Bentley, O'hara, Corluka, Pav and Bent could all be gone. That would be a lot of players to be replaced and upheaval that we don't need.

We need steel. Up front and in the middle. We have a GREAT bunch of players, but the best players we have are way too lightweight to play all in the same team.

Harry already showed us that he agrees. Like going in for Barry. No flash, pure substance and pro attitude is needed if anything.

No more Spice boys please!
