In those horrid Euro's under Harry, in which we was embarrassed, quite frankly.

I thought GDS was continually one of our best players, the seniors where totally shit and put zero effort in like it was a chore for them.

Off the pitch he was an idiot, but on the pitch, he really wasn't a bad player.

Yeah but you didn't have a TV for two years and didn't listen to any games on the radio bud...stop being such a pointy, shouty angry man for goodnEss sake. You're like the Robbie Keane of Spurs Community!

Gio had one half decent game when he scored a good goal against Shakthar, however his performance that night wasn't all that. He got his chances in the cup games against lower level opposition and was largely disappointing. Despite what people want to think, he did make the off appearance against league opposition, seem to remember him replacing Van der Vaart up at Wigan when we won 2-1, early on in the 10/11 season?

Face it, he was another shambolic DOF signing where we had checked out nothing about the kid apart from his Football Manager stats and decided to build a footballing dynasty out of a load of unsuited players. The same system that saw us sign players like Boateng, Bent, Bentley and Kaboul first time round. Regardless of what they went on to become, they were yards away from what we actually required at the time.

Absolutely agree with this, he looked very good in preseason and I think scored against Roma when we won 5-0 but that's it.

Lets not get all misty eyed about GDS.

Barca wanted rid despite some good performances, I figure the club thought they could straighten him out and failed. Bit like Taarabt really, not got the discipline to match the raw ability.

I remember the summer we got him and we had a pre-season friendly at Leyton Orient.

He was amazing, the ball just stuck to his feet and he really looked class.

Shame never given the opportunity of a consistent run in team, as said above should have been first choice cover for Lennon rather than VDV who HATED being shifted to the right and rightly so as was far better central.

You're losing the plot a bit mate. You've just discovered Wikipedia, and now you're comparing him to George Best.
known about wikipedia for a while now mate. The point is that players should be judged by what the produce on the pitch, not necessarily off it.

And then, as I said, the real world happened. Do you remember when he was rubbish against Wisla? Ramos took him off and put Fraizer Campbell on instead, and we improved immediately. In fact, Campbell was of far more practical use in 08-09, which tells you pretty much all you need to know.

I don't think Comolli enquired about players characters too much.
