t is rather odd how he is so amazing for his country

Not really a mystery - when he was on national duty he'd be sequestered away in a team hotel so wouldn't to go out getting pissed. He'd be 100% focused and sober and that would show in his performance.

That's perfectly true. The other salient point is that performances in international football have little relevance to performances in league football. A few years ago someone posted Huntelaar's international goalscoring record as 'evidence' that we should sign him. In response, someone else posted Crouchinho's, which was to all intents and purposes identical.

Yep -
I don't think Comolli enquired about players characters too much.

I think part of the brief was signing risky players. Berbatov was a risk that worked, Modric could have been too small.. When you can't attract or afford the very best then you've got to pick from whats left.

I am sure Mexico is not the same as England. Brazil was a good example. A lot of good that did us. All the other countries were out soaking up the atmosphere, relaxing in the evening, where as the England players were all locked up in there hotel rooms. That worked out well did n't it?!

I'm sure a few tequilas never hurt anyone and it's good for team bonding. These are young men who spend most of their time keeping fit anyway.

Young player who never was given a chance, can't blame him for making the switch back to La Liga as its bettered his career.

Are we the only club who get hung up about ex players and go on and on about pointless reasons why they arent here yet "magically" playing better elsewhere.

He's not done a thing since he left, hence why we were right to get rid of him.

Stats can be quite misleading, but check this out and make your own mind up.

Type in 'Peter Crouch's great goals' next...

Soldado scored even more in that league, that free kick (assume it's in there as defo can't be arsed to watch a video of Dos Santos) against RM was a decent effort though.

Love how everyone is ignoring how terrible he was at Galatasaray as well...

And then, as I said, the real world happened. Do you remember when he was rubbish against Wisla? Ramos took him off and put Fraizer Campbell on instead, and we improved immediately. In fact, Campbell was of far more practical use in 08-09, which tells you pretty much all you need to know.

The real world is a bad place though.

He only enquired about Ramos' after we'd got him. Apparently he spoke to Monchi, who told him Ramos wasn't all that and we'd have been better off getting their assistant manager instead.

Painful reading the descriptions of the positions, moves etc

Was always a odd one and another example of unfulfilled potential at the lane

I thought he'd be amazing.
But it was his lack of effort in training and partying in London that Harry Redknapp took some dislike to - and let's be honest, Harry didn't come across as the sternest of trainers in the world...

Alot of ability but not so much heart or brains for that matter, hes in the MLS at 26 and never settles at a club longer than a few seasons, that tells you a lot.
