But this could be sabotage with a trojan leper. If Given's injuries of the last couple of seasons have taken their toll there might not be much left.

This could well just be a rumour spawned off the back of them being knocked for Schwarzer and the widely known desperate need they have for a keeper. Suppose it does make sense, i would imagine they'd at least have enquired, even if it's just to try and convince Fulham that they are prepared to go else where and to think again on their valuation of the big Aussie.

Very good keeper, could have played at a top club instead of Newcastle and I feel he was underrated whilst playing for them. I do wonder how long he's got left at the highest level though, he's 34 now, and though a lot of keepers can keep going into their late thirties, no-one knows how his injuries will affect him from here on.

Definately a massive step up from Almunia though, although I don't think that's saying a lot.

Would be pissed off if they finally solve their goalie issue. Surely wont be cheap after costing 15?million from Newcastle?

I would not worry about his injury too much, although as it was his shoulder perhaps a bit more rehab would be sensible. Top keeper before his injury and would expect him to continue for at least another season or so.

I thought City had only paid £6m for him. He shouldn't be much more than that at 34 years old, but City don't work like everyone else.

He'll probably be £6m / available on loan to anyone that finished below them last season, £20m to anyone else.

I was suprised at the price as well, from BBC:

"For us, Given is an important player, " said Mancini of the experienced Irish stopper, who joined City from Newcastle in February 2009 in a £15m transfer.

Guardian reckon £7m rising to £8m, and wikipedia (yes, I know it's unreliable) says £5.9m. The fact that everyone is naming different prices suggests it was <£8m, as figures above that have to be announced individually to the stock exchange.

I hope they don't get him. Givens a great keeper and would earn Arsenal a lot of points. As others have said I don't know why City would sell to Arsenal but not us.
