That clears it up then. Suggest you phone up Spurs and tell them to default the game, that way instead of turning up and supporting our team in the off chance they can turn the game round we can come on here and spend a few extra hours slagging of Jenas.

Yeah because that's what I said?

May as well have been. You already believe they are through, so why are we bothering even playing the game, if I follow your logic through to it's natural conclusion.

I'm approaching this from a Madrid perspective as the title suggests.

It going to be a strange day for them because they are already through in their own minds. As I've already said, when you're Madrid, and you're 4-0 up against Tottenham, you can't help but think that you've already booked your place in the semi's.

And Real Madrid lost 5-0 against Barcelona earlier on this season. I know we're not Barcelona but nothing is impossible.

I hope you are right, as complacency and/or resting players will only increase our chances of getting the miracle.

That said, everything they have said is completely the opposite of your assertion that they think they are already through. Whether that is just them saying one thing and thinking the opposite, I don't know.

They're certainly not stupid enough to appear cocky, they dont want major egg on their faces.

They'll be very confident but I cant see them being complacent under Mourinho, they'll be at it and will probably look to get an away goal to kill it off completely, without being gung ho etc.

That said if we were 2-0 up at halftime you just never know do you? I bet that would get them a bit edgy.

Another angle to consider is that we can go out with little pressure on us - that in itself can be used massively to our advantage. We have to go for it so Harry isn't going to be sending us out looking to keep it extra tight. The instruction will be clear to attack from the off, we have to go for it and cant worry about leaving spaces at the back all the time. Risks have to be taken and if we can get off to a flying start we could rattle them, its not totally impossible.

If we could have a sniff, like being 3-0 up and needing one more, with even 5 mins to go of getting it to extra time it will be a remarkable achievement.

no chance in hell they won't score against us at home and we simply don't have the fire power to put 6 past them.

The tie is over, let it go...we have to concentrate on the league and ensure we win the race for fourth (its more important than beating Madrid anyway)

a second year in the CL and the money it brings really could be the difference between us spending the extra wages to and being able to attract some top players to transform us into a top team and being left simply to fight off bids for our own best players and taking several steps backwards.

No I wont let it go....I still believe even if its practically impossible. We wont have a game the following weekend so I expect an admirable effort from our boys....

Well said, I would rather us send the scum home nursing there ego than worry about a failed cause.

An early goal and you never know.

It'd be nice to restore some pride with a win and a good spectecle of a game. TBH that's probs the best we can hope for.

Call me crazy also, if you like, but I still believe we can make it through. However having said that it will all depend on whether we score an early goal. If we do, then they'll start to get nervous and that's where the crowd will need to play their part also creating a wall of noise, rousing the boys from all 4 corners of the stadium until the game is finally over with a favourable scoreline such as 6-4

They will need to have there players all fit for the league and cup games against barca, so they may well rest some and keep ones on yellows out as they really wont want them missing agaisnt barca if they go through. Really wish we could have keeped 11 men on and keeped the score down, all to do but supporting tottenham has never been an easy ride

Its gone though, realistically it is very much over.

I'm not even being negative, it just is what it is.

I still would expect nothing less from the fans in the ground and players on the pitch than a fighting performance and a white hot atmosphere of course, forget about the tie as a whole and concentrate on this one match.

It's still a home game against Real Madrid and it would still be great to beat them at our place.

What's important now is to get back on track in the league because if we continue that slump or take our eye off the ball against Stoke we could find ourselves 6 points being CITY with a worse goal difference and harder run in.

Whats important is we get back in the CL next year so we can start this fantastic journey all over again.

You and whoever else can still believe by all means, I am just unable to believe in what I deem impossible (much like I was unable to believe we were ever in the title race this season)

I'm not knocking you and those who think we can still make the semis and I will not be supporting the team any less than those with blind optimism, I m just aware of the task at hand and in my opinion the tie is dead now.

I think if there are any players with slight knocks or doubts come Wednesday then they'll be rested. That should open the way for a 5-0 win :)

The players have to believe they can win the tie, otherwise what's the point ! Lets go for it and really give it to Madrid, what was it Bill Nick said "It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we at Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory"

All ifs and buts but if we could have kept it down to 3 it really would have been game on. Gomes cocked it right up at the end
