The first team is OK ish it's the formation that fucks it. I think Ronaldo and Messi should both be there, maybe Pele up top over Ronaldo, but I do love Ronaldo. Osv and barca era especially... He was woof!

But for me no Redondo? He has to be ahead of xavi, even though xavi is one of and my favourite in that barca team. Ronaldinho aside.

No redondo, no zico, even Ibrahimovic should be ahead of Henry. Ramos... Mmm I'd put costacurta ahead of him.

No redondo? ?‍♂️

Baresi has to be first team.

Modric has to be ahead of iniesta for me.

No Boban?

No van Basten?

No Hoddle?

Absolute certs

Maradona is king.
Everyone else is lucky to play with him ?

I'd have Gerd Muller ahead of Henry, Best and Ronaldinho (Garrincha too, maybe, but I've never seen him play).

Three European Cup wins (scored in two of the finals). Won the Euros in 1972 (scored two in the final). World Cup in 74 (You guessed it, scored in the final). Scored ten in Mexico in 1970. Averaged close to a goal a game for Bayern for twelve or thirteen seasons - 565 in 607 games. No flair or tricks, just a goal-scoring machine.

For all their skill/achievements those three don't come anywhere close to Muller as players or serial winners. Now I think of it I would happily put him in the first XI ahead of Ronaldo who was a phenomenon at Barcelona but a much reduced force at Inter after his injury and decent but not spectacular at Madrid.

I'm not disagreeing with you about Muller: he's an all-time great. I just think the stuff that I've put in bold isn't relevant.

We're talking about the greatest players, not the ones who won the most trophies. I know the best players tend to play in the best teams (they're often the best teams because they have the best players) but I don't think the trophy haul is relevant to this. I'd have both George Best and Pat Jennings somewhere in those all-time teams and they were never going to be in Euro or World Cup winning teams. Best never even got to play in a World Cup.

He was incredible for Milan in that era. That Milan team was special, very very very special. It was a shame he left one year in think before milan beat a full strength barca that included sirs Romario and stoickov 4 - 0 in the champions league final. But Rijkaard was incredible in that team with gullit, van Basten, costacurta, baresi, Maldini dessailly... One of the best teams of all time with rijkard right in the center. I'd love to see full strength Milan of that era vs the recent famous barca team of Messi, xavi, busquets and Co. I'd back Milan too.
I'm aware he was a very good player. But this puts him into the 2nd team of all time. Basically puts him on the top 8 midfielders of all time.

Personally I have never seen anyone rating him at that level.

They've done three teams just so they can leverage a few more French players in there, but..........Henry shouldn't be anywhere near this list - he was constantly outstaged by Shearer through his entire career, and there's no way I'd consider Shearer for such a list!

To be honest, if any of those teams went up against a midfield of...

Keane, Vieira and Davids

...they'd probably lose.

The formations aren't balanced enough.
