The first ever green card in football was issued about a week ago in a Serie B match between Virtus Entella and Vicenza.

The green card is awarded to teams for fairplay moments and the team with the most green cards at the end of a season wins a cash reward. The green card in this instance was given for a striker admitting a defender hadn't touched the ball after his side unfairly won a corner.

Currently, the green card system is just on trail in the Serie B (Italian 2nd division), but if it's a success, other, bigger leagues may try implement it. Sounds like a cool idea. (y)

I used the Green Card system when I divorced my first wife. Half an hour of free consultation with a solicitor as and when needed.

" Score the goal and win a game that could put in the champions league or admit that the ball never touched the defenders hand for the penalty and get a green card instead" (n)

I'm sorry but now that players can get booked for the most innocuous of reasons, surely its better to bring in an amber (for want of any other colour) where two of those is a yellow.

I'd like that. I know refs give players first warnings and final warnings, but a card would carry more weight.

One of my friends has 2 young sons. When they behave well and do their chores she puts a gold star on their chart.

I like the idea but hope they grow out of it by 11 at the latest.

I think the ref should keep a packet of Haribos on him at all times and give the player a sweetie when they've done something nice. I'd work harder for a Haribo than I would for a green card.
