Still a shame we couldn't bring in MS and MM.

Hopefully we will use Andros to bring in Jay and MS one day (winter)
Agreed, not getting 1 player Pochettino worked with at Saints and not cashing in on Townsend as well as still paying Ekottos salary are the disappointments for me. Keeping Lloris, Vertonghen and all 7 from last summer makes me happy, though.

Funny that JJ has said opposite wrt Dier. Good try though, Dim. Really. Valient attempt.
Firstly Sherwood didnt recommend him, he says it was Ramsey

TBH I think Stobart is right on this as Chris Ramsey has worked with Dier last season and started him over Lascelles and Stones

2– The club did not want to sell Andros Townsend and rejected some ‘significant bids’ from Southampton for the 23-year-old."

This is so wierd to me as i struggle to find positives in Townsends game. I was a fan of him for the last few years but he seem to just go backwards in his development for some reason.

Would love if Poch could get the best out of Andros and prove me wrong, but he had so many chances to impress by now and continue to fail.

I would say that this is the reason why A) we hired Poch in the first place and B) why we didn't sell Andros this window.

If Poch to players like Andros, Kane, Davies, Lamela etc... what he did with Lallana, Shaw, J-Rod and Lambert, then there's every possibility that Andros could become a very good player in the near future.

So from all that all you can do is have a dig at Sherwood again, bravo
No. But i dont have the time, nor do i want to put in the effort of explaining my thoughts on others cuz all it did was leave me even more upset with Levy. For instance, rejecting multiple signifigant offers from saints for Townsend, a player who has no brains on the pitch? You must be fucking kidding.

Last chance saloon for Andros to show he can be integrated into a team imo. Gotta be Lennon's last season as well (Jan move would be ideal).
It isn't last chance saloon at all. He will be allowed to get properly fit just like Gareth was and he will improve just like GB.
If he improves by 10% as much as GB we have a £15 to £20 mill player on our hands.
Lennon will be sold for less than that. He will have his days just like JJ I suppose.

This video is a good representation of our attempts to bully Southampton into selling Rodriguez and Schneiderlin:

Andros won't make it here.

If he proves me wrong then good and we benefit...I really don't think I'm wrong though.

Depends what you mean by make it here. You could argue that he has already made it here as he is part of the 1st team squad and gets regular games.

I mean he won't be here next season; he's not going to fit into poch's picture.

He gets cameos and comes on and plays like shite 4 in every 5 games. That isn't 'making it', that's making a hash of it.

As frustrating as he is, there's potential. Potential and raw pace, you can't teach the latter.
Didn't see any of that 'raw pace' when he was chasing the Liverpool full back who he'd just given the ball to; and he'd just come on and was chasing somebody who had been playing for an hour.

This is the wrong question to ever be asking, particularly when you have a Director of Football set-up. It's wrong to make it into a Poch or Baldini thing. What would have happened is that positions were identified, the coach may have suggested some players, most likely Schneiderlin and Rodriguez, and there would be other players found by the scouts and the DOF that fit the same criteria, and then my guess would be that the coach, DOF, Scout (with maybe some input from the board re: funds) would discuss how to order the options. These players would then be systematically, and perhaps simultaneously pursued such that we fill the right holes. I would be incredibly surprised if any of the players that are bought, for the first team in particular, didn't have Poch's agreement.

It's a false dichotomy.

Exactly.

Please can we create a thread on this, lock it, put a sticky/pin on it. Then print it out for each SC member and laminate it for easy reference. Can we also send it to the tabloid sports journalists and ask their mums to put in on their pencil cases too.

Thanks (y)

Now you are just talking shit, pathetic tbh because he hasn't been fit this season and has already had one good game in his 3 appearances

Here is the ratings Townsend got last season from SC
Last season, here is the results of the ratings thread:
Vs Dinamo Tbilisi: Townsend voted MOTM with 210 votes. Paulinho 2nd with 11 votes!
Vs Swansea: Townsend 3rd best player(avg rating 7.5). Paulinho 1st!
Vs Arsenal: voted 3rd best player with 4.7% of the votes. Lloris got over 80%
Vs Norwich: avg rating between 6.5-7
Vs Cardiff: avg rating between 6.5-7
Vs Chelsea: avg rating 7 (probably his best game imo)
Vs West Ham: Motm with 78%
Vs Aston Villa: MOTM with 49%
Vs Hull: Motm with 31.7% played with a head injury and
Vs Everton: avg rating 6.5
Vs Newcastle: Avg rating shite(around 5)

So before his wrist injury, he was one of our best players but since then he hasn't had a run of games. However everyone just remembers the stats, but not one of our players had any decent stats under AVB

The only thing with Townsend is, when he is bad, he is really bad

SC ratings? lol

Anyway, he won't be here next season, I, personally, can't see it. If he sorts his shit out and somehow makes it in a team that demands teamwork and intelligence like a poch team does then that's fantastic as we'll obviously benefit.

I don't believe that will happen though. I don't think I'm in the minority in holding this view.

If he shoves my expectations of him up my jacksie I'll take it like a trooper as the club would be benefiting.

Club first every time.

I don't think he's going to get a run of games,'not In the league anyway.
He's hardly covered himself in glory so far.
But as think tank says opinions can change.

Im not saying he has been good, but he hasn't been fit and has been shit. However after 2 bad games after a good cameo people want his head it seems.

He hasn't been fit since that run of games and unsurprisingly he hasn't looked the same. Hopefully he gets fit and shows us what he can do but he will get a run of games in the Europa. If he gets his confidence back and performs well then it can only be good for us and will get a shot.

SC ratings? lol

.
@thinktank Given that Spurs fans on SC come from a wide cross section in terms of social status, experience and relative knowledge, whether season ticket holders, arm chair fans or overseas residents, dont you think that SC ratings and therefore their opinions are a reasonable representation of how the players perform? After all we are the fans!
