Lets be honest, that's where it's headed. Ideally, FIFA & UEFA, probably quite a few FAs around the world too, would love to see no officials on the pitch and it all done behind closed doors by video, line sensors and technology.

They could start employing out of shape regular members of the public instead of super-fit refs, they just sit in a big armchair and every now and then hit a button that sounds a buzzer in the stadium, their decision displayed on a big screen or some guff.
