Gylfi says leaving us was a no brainer

He is a decent player but didn't have the quickness of body or speed of thought to play at number 10 for us. Too often he was caught on the ball in attacking positions or failed to make good decisions with the ball at his feet.

There is a big difference playing for Spurs and Swansea, he gets a lot more space when playing for them than he ever did for us.

He and Eriksen were more or less competing for the same spot. I don't think we kept the wrong player out of those two, even if Gylfi was a favourite of mine.

According to Monk he loves it here, which is nice. I was a bit sad to see Siggy go if I'm being honest. Don't know why but he was one of my favourites.

I think he got fair chances but one of those players who just didn't fit for whatever reason.

I like him very much, works his socks off. But I hope he doesnt rip us up today. I expect he will.

All that needs to be said. He's a good striker of the ball, and will get a reasonable goal tally each season (maybe even adding to it this afternoon...), but all of the above from JS was obvious after just a couple of games back in September 2012. Against packed defences he just didn't really have it, and a mid-table team where he will be afforded more space to play is where his level is at. I feel much the same about someone like Dembele also.

This isn't how football works. It's a game of 11 v 11, even in terms of onfield 1 on 1's Gylfi won't be going up against Eriksen.
Of course, but we'll see how each player does today in their 11. If you swapped them around I'm 100% certain that Eriksen would have a better game playing for Swansea than Gylfi would have playing for us. I'm not convinced that Erik will have a better game today than Gylfi. Which makes me wonder if Gylfi is playing in the better team? Hope I'm wrong.

No we won't. Everyone knows Eriksen's better, it doesn't take one game to determine the better player.

How about half a season? Swansea are ahead of us in the table and Gylfi has been the attacking fulcrum of the side, whereas Chrisitian has been insipid for us. Of course if Christian were playing for Swansea he might be having even more of an impact that Gylfi, but what does that say about us?

That we're shit, but Eriksen is still the better player.

I think we would be a much more creative team if we still had him and Hotboy in the midfield alongside Eriksen. I was really sorry to see him go.

Didn't look insipid against Everton. His season has been very mixed- some days he's been fantastic and as good as he was in the second half of last season, in others he has been shit. I think it's unfair to say he's been 'insipid' the whole season.

And we saw both Siggy and Eriksen play last season, only one winner. People say Siggy wasn't given a chance but it was other things that had nothing to do with his position that angered me.

The usual case of a player getting dogs abuse when they're here then people crying that we let him go. Same for Hudd when he left.

On the whole I do think Christian is the more effective of the two when deployed by a manager who knows how to get the best out of him, but there are players whom I would have parted with before Gylfi *cough*Lamela*cough*

He had the unfortunate job of following VDV.

Like many of our purchases over the last couple of seasons there didn't seem to be much of a plan for him.

He's a good player and will do well for Swansea but I've no regrets at him leaving.
