He was a very good player at Ajax (CL) but for whatever reason it hasn't worked at Chelsea.

IMO He fits well with the squad as an alternative to Kulusevski but he plays for Chelsea and we are Spurs so what's the point in linking players between these two clubs.

Thought we should have gone in for him when at Ajax - and Rafa was certainly pushing us to make an offer.
Still think he would be a decent backup but that's all and doesn't he want to play and why looking to leave Chelsea?

I liked him at Ajax, I think he’d bring something different to our squad and a bit of unpredictability

I wonder if this has more legs now Abramovich has gone...?

Strong competition for Ajax: Tottenham Hotspur also has Hakim Ziyech on the grain

Tottenham Hotspur threatens not to hinder Ajax for the first time. The top club from London is also considering strengthening with Chelsea reserve Hakim Ziyech, who this week explored the possibilities with the Amsterdam club to return to the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Sources from England assure that Tottenham Hotspur has now also targeted 29-year-old Ziyech and that the club is looking to discuss a move within London this week. Manager Antonio Conte wants to add another attacker - preferably with experience - to his roster. Nicolo Zaniolo of AS Roma was previously in the picture, but the Italian international has been convinced by coach José Mourinho to stay in Rome.

Ziyech can and wants to leave Chelsea, where he has little prospect of a starting spot. The graceful left foot spoke in recent days with Ajax, which is preparing for a possible departure of attacker Antony to Manchester United for a record sum. In that case, trainer Alfred Schreuder, who previously worked with Ziyech in Enschede and Amsterdam, and the club management would like to see the former star player return.
A large part of the supporters of Ajax fervently hopes for a reunion with the assist king and crowd favorite of yesteryear. For that, Antony has to be sold first. The club management of Ajax is still taking into account an increased offer from United for the Brazilian tastemaker. The national champion previously rejected a proposal of eighty million euros, but it is expected that Ajax, despite the wish of the technical heart to keep Antony, will give in if United approaches or breaks the magical limit of one hundred million with a new bid.

Chances of playing time greater at Ajax

Where Ajax has to pull out all the stops financially to be able to rent Ziyech from Chelsea, that does not seem to be a problem for Tottenham. However, the chances of playing time are much greater at the club with which he took the double in 2019 and was a few seconds away from the Champions League final. At Spurs, the club that was obstructive for a long time in that semi-final and in the sale of Steven Bergwijn to Ajax, a vacant spot in the attack is not immediately obvious. Conte has started the Premier League season strongly with Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.
Ziyech sees another comeback in the national team of Morocco . Vahid Halilhodzic, the national coach with whom the attacker could not get along, was fired earlier this month. The Moroccan federation is eager to see Ziyech rejoin for the World Cup. The player therefore seems to benefit from playing time in the coming months. He has less of that guarantee at Spurs, although the club from North London is active in four competitions, including the Champions League, until the final tournament in Qatar.

Ziyech made the switch to Chelsea in 2020 for more than forty million. The former player of FC Twente and Heerenveen was good for 38 goals and 51 assists in the Eredivisie in four seasons at Ajax. At Chelsea, the Drontenaar had to settle for substitutes in the past two years. In the Premier League, he scored six times and acted as a principal just as often. His most beautiful goal, a curl in the top corner of twenty meters, he made against Tottenham.

At that club, Ziyech, who was coveted by AC Milan earlier this summer, can now keep his English dream alive. Chelsea no longer needs the virtuoso. The club with whom Ziyech won the Champions League title in his first year, wants to strengthen itself in the last week of the transfer period with attackers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona and Anthony Gordon from Everton.
Didn't realise he is 29, thought he was only about 25/26.

Its the fact he looked good at Ajax and not so good at Chelsea that worries me, dutch league easier to impress in, ala Janssen, its a pass for me, def better options out there.

Definitely seems to fit the mold of a Zaniolo, more CAM/Winger than a out and out wing forward but he is 29 and at Chelsea so I personally couldn't see it happening.

Still to be me feels like Zaniolo or bust but I'm sure more names will appear!

Seems a bit small and lightweight compared to the type of physique/physicality that Conte likes to bring in.

Definitely not interested in this. Yet another player who comes from the Dutch league and cannot handle the Premiership. Nowhere near good enough in my opinion.

On top of that, why would Chelsea sell to us, we are their direct rivals this season.

Two things...

1. Would he really come to sit on our bench?
2. Would Chelsea really deal with us?

Can see it now, Negotiations have all gone well, agreement made. Just to shake hands on the agreement...... Fuck sake, Deal not agreed! :cautious:
