On SSN news now.

He's returning to football after 7 months out after suffering from throat cancer. His wife has leukemia as well, so it's been and still is a rough spell for him.

So fair play Mark Halsey

They should have a 1 in 1 out policy, I can think of a few candidates that need to be shown the door, but top of the list has to be Mark 'The PGMO didn't have the balls to uphold my lifetime ban' Clattenburg.

He will be doing his first Football League match next Tuesday when he does Accrington Stanley v Barnet.

Halsey is definitely the best referee we have at the moment, good to see the guy back.

Hopefully he can get back to it and do the FA Cup final at some point.

I hate to jinx anything but I also think he's one of the least irritating refs out there. I actually can't remember ever feeling great animosity towards him, which for any ref over the last 30 years is an achievement.

I read a story about his struggle a couple of weeks ago in the Independent I think.
