What's new

Harry defends Aaron and tells him that he's not made a scapegoat by anyone.

The outburst was related to a few dozen skidmarks on internet forums or the manager going out on live TV and saying he fell ill just before the game?

Hmm, tough one, let's think about which is more likely.

It's blown over, great and Lennon won't want to leave the club over it either, FFS. Such melodrama.

Glad Harry's cleared that up. I don't think Lennon was pointing the finger at Redknapp, more likely some 'fans' have been giving him stick on Twitter.

No, I don't. There seems to be only one context to suggesting that fans are going to force a player to leave.

I'm saying simply that I hope fans haven't pissed him off to an extent in which he wants to leave, he's a young lad and might take it all to heart.

If we were going to burn an efigy, then a Lennon one would be far quicker to knock up.

Things were far easier when we could blame Sol Campbell or a lasagne.

If we're gonna have a scapegoat then it has to be Jenas

It's tradition

Important lesson learned then. Say what actually happened, Harry. Would have stopped all the nonsense at source. Moving on...

Could we still not blame him?

according to news now this was posted at 6.30 this morning

"Harry Redknapp reported that Aaron Lennon was lost to illness just before kick-off at the Bernabeu.

The manager said the winger 'hadn't been feeling great all day' and had to be replaced by Jermaine Jenas as we ended up losing the Champions League quarter-final, first leg 4-0 against Real Madrid.

"We lost Aaron just as the teams were walking on the pitch," said Harry. "He didn't feel well enough to play so we had to change straight away.

"He hadn't been feeling great all day. I said 'are you ok?' and he said 'I don't feel like I have any strength or energy to run', so I had to pull him out.

"He went out to warm-up, came in and just said he didn't feel well and wasn't fit enough to play. There is nothing you can do."

Vedran Corluka later limped off with an ankle injury, adding to Harry's defensive worries with Stoke next up in the Premier League on Saturday."

so what exactly did you want him to say and when?

Why not just say that during the interview afterwards? I don't care either way but some obviously did last night and this morning, including Lennon.

It's a small issue which seems to have ruffled feathers and not just on the intawebz, which is evil and nasty but for some of the fans out in Madrid and the player himself.

Of course, no doubt this will be construed by some with fertile imaginations and burdened with a hint of paranoia as an anti-Harry post and anti-Harry or pro-Harry I certainly am not (more interested in supporting the club and forgetting about the individuals thanks muchly), instead of just commenting that perhaps a grown man expressing himself properly would have made a non-issue into exactly that.

But whatever. Probably unreasonable.
