Harry Kane has called on his Tottenham teammates to be more clinical after they were beaten 1-0 by Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday. Spurs missed the chance to open up a seven-point gap on fifth-place Newcastle after they had lost at Manchester City earlier in the day.

Despite controlling possession and creating more chances at Molineux, Spurs were undone by a late goal by long-term transfer target Adama Traore, condemning them to a second 1-0 defeat on the road this week.

Glad he's apparently including himself in that assessment. Should never have taken the next free kick off Porro after he'd hit the bar with a beaut. Those things count too.

You're right and I said it so many times why the hell doesn't anybody else at the club not see that as good as he is at most things free kicks are not for him? If the fans can see it surely the management can? I know we don't have an Eriksen to take them but Son must be a better option and now it seems Porro could. Perhaps a couple of banners in the crowd with "We love you Harry but please don't take anymore freekicks" would do the trick. We've had a few just outside the area this season and last with no end result and they are just wasted opportunities. Lets hope we bring in Ward-Prowse or Maddison or even both for next season.

It's been happening under a few managers now. Since Eriksen left, he's been the one taking them when Son is much better at them. Now we have a few more players who can take better free kicks than him.

I think this whole thing is another reflection of how the club is managed. No one takes a hard stance on difficult decisions. Kane on free kicks, Son starting almost every game this season. You can't be people-pleasing to the detriment of the club. Levy even had an office at the training ground and had meals with players.

It's all part of the soft Tottenham underbelly.

It's unprofessional.

Fans shouldn't be the ones trying to get the message across. The manager should tell Kane to sit out free kicks. End of story. No negotiating.

I think he sees all those free kicks as an opportunity to add to his goal tally which says rather a lot about his priorities.

'be clinical', 'must show more passion', 'must see a response in the next game'. No knock on Kane as he has been immense for us but all these platitudes - we've heard them all before.

I agree with your sentiment, the trouble is if we did that he would take another free kick and ironically it would crash straight into the banner in the crowd with the message on it behind the goal 😉

He may do but his strategy is clearly not working on this front, and what do they say about the definition of madness, doing the same thing over and over again and getting the same result. It's always been an odd one because he can on most occasions (ignoring his most high profile of misses in the World Cup quarter final) strike a dead ball from the penalty spot with consistent accuracy, he can also strike a moving ball into the net frequently from similar distances.
Line up a wall and give him a free kick and he almost always hits it like a rugby ball high up in the stands. It's time for the management to get tough on these details. Remove the responsibility from him whether he likes it or not.

When the england & spurs captain, and record goal scorer, says give me the ball, I fancy this one, what can anyone say?

Agreed. You’ll probably find the best free kick takers are the ones that stay behind for hours after training, working on their technique.
It’s hard to imagine H doing this as his free kicks are so embarrassingly shocking... Which is a shame as he’s successfully developed other areas of his game and definitely has it in him to be a million times better at scoring set piece goals from outside the box.

Quite difficult for Conte to tell him to stop doing the same thing over and over with the same shit result when Conte himself is guilty of precisely the same thing on a regular basis.

I hope Harry really steps up against Milan. It is about time he did it in a big game.

I hope he steps up against AC Milan and scores goals in the usual way he scores goals....if we get a free kick just outside the box...I hope he does not step up.....

Kane shouldn’t be near freekicks full stop!!!
